This is a well-written article appearing on the team’s official website. Even their paid employees can’t believe it. What in God’s name is wrong with Shapiro/Wedge et al?

MLB.com is run by MLB Advanced Media, which more or less has editorial independence from the individual teams. That seems crazy, but they recognize that the content won’t be any good if the articles are going through the teams for approval, and then they can’t win web traffic away from ESPN.com and all the other sites.

It’s a good thing Wedge had him take reps at first base. If it weren’t for Garko’s truly outstanding offensive performance, Marte might have been needed over there, or at 3B while Casey played some 1B.
