Hope Gootz has another good day, that bottom of the lineup is brutally bad.

by Toxicadam on Jun 7, 2008 3:37 PM EDT   0 recs

Blah, I’ve got no visuals, today. Extra Innings has blacked out the game because of the Fox broadcast, but Denver Fox affiliate is showing the Cubs.

"Lotta heart in Cleveland." - Ian Hunter

by Denver Tribe Fan on Jun 7, 2008 3:48 PM EDT   0 recs

Cincinnati affiliate also showing the Cubs. BOOOOO FOX.

by RachelAnn on Jun 7, 2008 3:54 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

But the Dayton affiliate has the Indians! YAY FOX. I knew there would be a use for getting both Dayton and Cinci stations someday.

by RachelAnn on Jun 7, 2008 4:00 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I used to get the Lima and Dayton feeds of FSN Ohio and the Toledo feed of FSN Detroit. I’d wake up and ask myself if I felt like the Indians, Reds, or Tigers. Or the Cubs on WGN or the Braves on TBS or…

I miss cable. :(

So we gonna talk baseball today or turn this into a quilting bee last yesterday?

by mauichuck on Jun 7, 2008 3:57 PM EDT   0 recs

I remember the the first yesterday we had. It surely wasn’t as good as the last yesterday.

by gahnki on Jun 7, 2008 3:59 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

last=like Oy!

DP for Francisco. Pretty well hit, but right to the 3b glove side.

by Toxicadam on Jun 7, 2008 4:04 PM EDT   0 recs

I’m not sure it was that well hit.

Stuck with the Cubs on FOX tonight. Plus my kid sister’s over visiting. She doesn’t care if I’m on the net while she’s here (She’s reading manga right now), but she wants to listen to the Cubs game when it’s on TV. So I shan’t be participating this afternoon. You guys have fun. Or, uh. Not. As the case may be.

Hard truth: Your eyes lie.

Bobby Seay is absolutely boring. He’s a terrible lineup announcer

Any my LGT screen is flashing like I have epilepsy.

by gahnki on Jun 7, 2008 4:06 PM EDT   0 recs

You’re a little mixed up there gahnk – the flasing screens supposed to give some epileptics seizures. I think that’s what you’re talking about. Now back to baseball – or baseball as we know it in Cleveland any way.

"the most vehement Yankee-hating guy I know" - Jay

by mauichuck on Jun 7, 2008 4:08 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

ahh..you are right.

vintage laffey thus far.

ok, i’m done jinxing for the day.

by Brick. on Jun 7, 2008 4:11 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I was gonna say. So far = first two batters?

Second 2 batters = Laffey in Texas?

vintage 2008 miggy, though

by SuddenSam on Jun 7, 2008 4:11 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Dear Aaron Laffey,

Your job is to be the groundball master that Westbrook was. Good luck.

by tabler84 on Jun 7, 2008 4:09 PM EDT   0 recs

Hammy and Hegan acting surprised that the Tigers suck this year. Guess we can rule them out as lurkers.

by SuddenSam on Jun 7, 2008 4:10 PM EDT   0 recs

Any word on when Fausto comes off the DL?

"Lotta heart in Cleveland." - Ian Hunter

by Denver Tribe Fan on Jun 7, 2008 4:10 PM EDT   0 recs

last i read was “end of the month”

by Brick. on Jun 7, 2008 4:11 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Hopefully that’s the month of June and not August.

Am I the only idiot who looks at the Gamecast screen and always thinks the guy who’s on deck is up because he’s close to home plate?

"Lotta heart in Cleveland." - Ian Hunter

by Denver Tribe Fan on Jun 7, 2008 4:17 PM EDT   0 recs

It’d be too easy to give you a shot here, but I won’t. Nope that’s one mistake I’ve never made.

"the most vehement Yankee-hating guy I know" - Jay

by mauichuck on Jun 7, 2008 4:18 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Fair enough. I concede that it’s idiotic.

"Lotta heart in Cleveland." - Ian Hunter

by Denver Tribe Fan on Jun 7, 2008 4:19 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

so what the heck is our pitching depth chart with fausto still out?

1 CC
2 Lee
3 Laffey
4 Byrd
5 Sowers
6 ??? Slocum, Huff?

by Brick. on Jun 7, 2008 4:17 PM EDT   0 recs

Better yet, what’s our staff look like in 2009?

"the most vehement Yankee-hating guy I know" - Jay

by mauichuck on Jun 7, 2008 4:18 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

how long till we talk about extending byrd?

by Brick. on Jun 7, 2008 4:19 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I would do it, if we could get a 1 year deal.

by Toxicadam on Jun 7, 2008 4:20 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Nope, it should be team policy that we extend no one – NO ONE!

"the most vehement Yankee-hating guy I know" - Jay

by mauichuck on Jun 7, 2008 4:22 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Haven’t had my chance yet: Hi, Chuck! Nice to see you back.

by fleerdon on Jun 7, 2008 4:23 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Hey did I ever tell you what I think about Hafner, or the Yankees or LeBron?

"the most vehement Yankee-hating guy I know" - Jay

by mauichuck on Jun 7, 2008 4:24 PM EDT to parent up   1 recs

Did I ever disagree with you?

by fleerdon on Jun 7, 2008 4:28 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Nope, that’s why I think you’re the most brillant poster on this site.

"the most vehement Yankee-hating guy I know" - Jay

by mauichuck on Jun 7, 2008 4:28 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Agreeing with you makes someone brilliant? So you are brilliant?

by joeee on Jun 7, 2008 5:19 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

joeee, joeee, joeee – what am I getting too subtle? It’s self parody for cryin’ out load!

word – the internet can be pretty viscous, you know

by joeee on Jun 7, 2008 7:06 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Castrovince wants to offer an extension to Cord Phelps.

by SuddenSam on Jun 7, 2008 4:23 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Not Slocum—he just got bumped the the pen to limit his innings after two injury shortened seasons. He’s not gonna be a starting candidate until late in the season, if at all this year.

by fleerdon on Jun 7, 2008 4:22 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

that’s right. it has to be huff then, no? Jeff Harris!

by Brick. on Jun 7, 2008 4:23 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Huff would have to be added to the 40-man, of course, and you’re starting the clock on him a year earlier than you’d like. I’d say they’ll wait until they know whether there’s any point to that. If they’re not closing the gap within a month or so, what’s the point in using Huff?

by fleerdon on Jun 7, 2008 4:24 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

no point. i’m talking if someone else gets hurt before fausto is back.

by Brick. on Jun 7, 2008 4:26 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yech. Isn’t J.D. Martin getting stretched out again? Lofgren picked a helluva year to blow chunks.

by fleerdon on Jun 7, 2008 4:27 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

It has been brutal. That’s Westbrook, Smith, Miller, and (sort of) Slocum out or gone for 2008. The good news is, Jason Stanford’s back in the system.

by fleerdon on Jun 7, 2008 4:26 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

That’s pretty much the only way Casey gets on base against LHP.

"Lotta heart in Cleveland." - Ian Hunter

by Denver Tribe Fan on Jun 7, 2008 4:19 PM EDT   0 recs

I’ll take it!

by SuddenSam on Jun 7, 2008 4:21 PM EDT   0 recs

by Brick. on Jun 7, 2008 4:22 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

that ground rule rule so needs to be changed.

by Brick. on Jun 7, 2008 4:22 PM EDT   0 recs

agree. Gutz woulda scored easily.

by westbrook on Jun 7, 2008 4:27 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Do it lacrosse style—just have the guys chase the ball down and keep playing.

by fleerdon on Jun 7, 2008 4:28 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

blacked out…can somebody explain the error to me?

by xrickx on Jun 7, 2008 4:24 PM EDT   0 recs

sounded like it just went under cabrera’s glove.

by Brick. on Jun 7, 2008 4:24 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Indeed. He just didn’t get the glove down enough.

by RachelAnn on Jun 7, 2008 4:25 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Come on Marte. Earn your keep.

by mjschaefer on Jun 7, 2008 4:24 PM EDT   0 recs

I”m totally getting time machined, today. Thanks a lot Fox!

"Lotta heart in Cleveland." - Ian Hunter

by Denver Tribe Fan on Jun 7, 2008 4:24 PM EDT   0 recs

damn.

by Brick. on Jun 7, 2008 4:25 PM EDT   0 recs

Hammy incredulous that Marte has no RBIs, while playing once every ten days, and being lifted in every high-leverage situation.

by JesseAK on Jun 7, 2008 4:25 PM EDT   0 recs

That’s no excuse .. plenty of other players receiving sporadic playtime have produced RBI’s.

by Toxicadam on Jun 7, 2008 4:28 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

RBI is kind of a meaningless stat

by Gradyforpresident on Jun 7, 2008 4:29 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

YOU, SIR, ARE NOT BASEBALL PLAYER.

Hard truth: Your eyes lie.

by AngG on Jun 7, 2008 4:30 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Except the part where they actually count the runs between teams. Other than that, yeah it’s meaningless.

"the most vehement Yankee-hating guy I know" - Jay

by mauichuck on Jun 7, 2008 4:30 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

That would be Runs, not RBI. RBI mostly situational stat dependent on the OBP of players ahead of you in the lineup.

"Lotta heart in Cleveland." - Ian Hunter

by Denver Tribe Fan on Jun 7, 2008 4:31 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

that would be runs scored, which is pretty close to another meaningless stat

by Gradyforpresident on Jun 7, 2008 4:31 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Are you trying to tell me that guys who get more at bats might score more runs?

MADNESS.

Hard truth: Your eyes lie.

by AngG on Jun 7, 2008 4:32 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah yer both right. Maybe they should just drop runs as a stat all together and just compare OPS at the end of the game to see who wins.
