Make-A-Wish Sportscenter 6pm EST
Guys, the Make-a-Wish segment that Sportscenter does focuses on a kid with lymphoma who gets to be a Cleveland Indian for a day. Hosted by Grady and Vic. Should be coming on soon for those reading this as I'm posting it.

I was at the game that night. I’ll have to catch the replay.

Same. I still actually cry when I watch the Jason McElwain video too. And when I watch the last scene of Mr. Holland’s Opus. Oh god, I’ll stop now.

And My Life. Don’t forget My Life. Also, I date men on the side and there is not a THING wrong with it.

Jodie Foster before the investigative committee on Contact and everything after the umpire yells “SAFE” at the end of Major League.
I also skip and jump and like to press wild flowers.

I love the Seinfeld episode where George cries during Home Alone. He says the old man got to him. Jerry replies “I don’t know if I can be friend with you after a display like this.”
Of course, he watched that movie because he was lost during Home Alone 2 since he hadn’t seen the first one.

You guys couldn’t even win this year for this kid? You heartless bastahds.

Also, that kid is clearly better than David Dellucci. This is not even debatable.

I know, that kid had the fundamentals down, definitely some talent there. Also! that was a pretty awesome thing for the players to do, especially Victor and Grady.

Despite what everyone thinks about ESPN, I always think they do these segments well. Well done Tribe.
One day I'll get over to watch the Tribe play

Agreed. These pieces remind me once again that baseball is a game for little kids. The look on the kid’s faces – as well as the player’s reaction to the kid’s – is marvelous, just marvelous.

For those watching the online version of this video, they left out what I considered to be one of the best parts from the version that aired on Sportscenter. After Alonso was banging on the drum, they let him go into the PA booth and announce the batters for a half inning. The TV version showed Alonso announcing Ben Francisco’s plate appearance and then Ben-Fran hitting a homer to left. Alonso got high fives from everyone in the booth and then said something along the lines of “I am the good luck charm”

How could they leave that out? I would’ve broken down.

I already did get weepy.
ESPN does indeed do a fine job with these pieces. Tom Rinaldi’s piece on Jason McElwain was very nice.
Watch this and try to hold it back. Just try:

Wow, I just sat at my desk and watched the full J-Mac piece, and I sobbed. I’m weak. I’ve seen this a million times and I’ve covered this story incessantly. Still gets me.

Haha this will teach me to read the whole thread before I comment. Good to see J-Mac had the same impact on everyone. I actually liked the CBS News piece on J-Mac better for some reason. Maybe because it was the first one I saw.

The string of highlights where he’s burying NBA-style bombs, with the crowd roiling into a frenzy, always gets me. Not sure if there is any more truly amazing sporting highlight than that, ever.

That is awesome. I wish I could have seen that part.

I’ve seen both versions, and I can’t figure out why that was cut. From the online version of all places, where you think there wouldn’t be a time constraint. It was by far my favorite part.

Maybe because of bandwidth/file size?

Oh man, that was amazing. Bad bad idea to watch that at work, however.
