It’s a premium story, so can’t divulge too much, but Matt LaPorta is now Baseball America’s #7 overall prospect.
Have I convinced you of the Dellucci / De Niro connection yet?

It’s the most exciting baseball related event for me this week. They were separated at birth.

The reduced ABs for Garko have really been a breath of fresh air. I love the guy, but sheesh has he been bad for ages.

Mills might be arriving. 4 HRs in last 10 games, to go with 3 doubles and an average over .360. Wegz has done almost the same thing in his last 10 as well.
It might be good to be an Indians fan soon enough.
I was just about to say the same thing. I’m glad they turned it up at the same time. I also enjoy the fact that they’re showing negligible platoon splits.

If baserunners were vehicles, Dellucci would be a rickshaw.

Speed on the basebaths paths!
As in, by its scientific definition, Dellucci has speed.

Ahahaha fat guy running over small woman to chase home run ball.

Manning: “I really believe Wedge put the runner in motion because Garko and Gutierrez were a combined oh-for-forty-two. They were due.”

That was horsey sauce. They let Garza off the hook.

“Ginter…a rare situation in which he falls behind the count…”
by fleerdon on Jul 12, 2008 7:50 PM EDT reply actions
Ummm, these Ginter pitches are damn good.
Dear Mr. Sabean, I hear you have a reputation of being stupid. Want to deal Lincecum or Cain? You can pick THREE of these 4 players for either: Borowski, Dellucci, Blake, Byrd.
Comcast in Richmond (presumably everywhere else too, I guess) has FSN Fla. instead of STO. The announcers seem impressed by Ginter. Or pissed at the Rays. Can’t tell which.
Why did it have to be Tampa Bay? I’m okay with it if these guys immediately resume kicking Boston’s ass.

yeah…. while it might be nice that the Indians are showing a bit of a pulse, I would’ve been perfectly fine with them sucking through the AS break… the only teams they’re helping with their outburst here over the last three games are the Red Sox and the Yankees….. hell, they can’t even lose to the right teams…. didn’t someone tell them that the Rays are the feel-good story of the year….. but then, if the Rays can’t pummel a guy like Ginter, I don’t know if how much longer they’re going to be feeling good….
Yeah, fair enough. This has way more to do with the Rays sucking than with us doing well right now.

That looked Casey Blake hitting to Casey Blake fielding.

Amazing.
Garko is another one with “speed” out there. Grady might have made it home.

Nice to see the Hollish are donating cows to widowed Kosovo women.

That’s two hit the opposite way with a little oomph for Frank. Right at him, but pretty well struck.
Baby steps.

Does anyone else find Jim Donevan annoying? Listening to him call the game makes me want to beg for Underwood, as crazy as that sounds.
Just got here and can only stay for a minute. NO WAY!!!!!!

That sounds right to me. Who else are they going to try? There’s no need to rush Huff, since we’re out of the playoff race.
Donovan is living like 5 years behind present time with all the references to ancient players. He already praised Montgomery, the early ‘90s closer for the royals, and now he mentions Baldelli. Perhaps it’s a deliberate time machine on his part. Who knows.
White Sox down a run. We could pick up 3 games in 3 days!

True. I think it’s still winnable for any team not in KC or Cleveland.

It’s Rock-n-Blast nights. I went to the game last night and the show was weaker than the typical Friday night firework show. They brought in some church choir and had them sing in between barrages. The net result was too much choir singing and not enough badass firework blasts. About 2/3rds of the crowd had left before the end of the entire show. It was that bad.
If Ginter doesn’t start getting standing Os…not my America, man.

Yeah. But it could be awhile. His pitch count is pretty good and he’s still looking ok.

I think we were due for something unexpectedly good to happen this season (besides Kliff, that is).

Why’d they leave him in? Trying to protect the bullpen? It’s not like they’ve been blowing through relievers the past two nights.

Of course as soon as I say that, Raffy B enters the game.

Reclamation update:
Weaver 3 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO, 1 HR
Bullington 3 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 6 SO, 1 HR

Someone in my fantasy league just offered me Griffey and Vlad Guerrero for Josh Hamilton and Ryan Ludwick
Pretty good game. Just got back from watching the Memphis Red Birds play the Omaha Royals. Saw Mark Worrel pitch in relief. He’s getting it up there at 91-92 with a very deceptive motion. All of the Omaha hitters looked over matched. Maybe Casey for this guy and another IFer? Don’t know.
BTW, if the Indians ever move Memphis would be my first choice. There’s a bar-b-que joint near the park called The Rendezvous - $18 for an incredible rack of ribs. After the game you can stagger over to Beale St. and listen to some blues. It was a little slow tonight, but still I can see the attraction.
Anyway, is it possible that the Tribe has come back from the dead? We get Vic back, Marte picks up his hitting just a little, Garko come to, Betancourt regains his mojo and Perez starts finding the plate, who knows? Anything can happen!
