The Jeter Clutch
And now he has the shoe to prove it.
The event also showcased Derek Jeter's signature shoe, the Jeter Clutch, a high-performance training shoe that was developed to help him train for the rigors of a 162-game season. Inspired by Jeter's renowned career, the Clutch is a superior training shoe that blends the best aspects of the celebrated sports hero and allows consumers to be as clutch as a three-time Gold Glove winner. Derek Jeter was one of the first athletes personally handpicked by Michael Jordan to represent the brand based on his dedication to hard work and his desire to be the best.
Who are we to argue with Team Jordan? Jeter is clutch!

What a great sentence in PR history.

Just imagine how great that shoe would be if Jeter actually deserved any of his Gold Gloves.

Despite all of my best intentions, I have not, in fact, grown up to be a debaser.
It’s from a White Sox/A’s game last year, Scott Podsednik thinks he can catch a ball with his head.. and fails.

Canseco’s was better, because it happened against the Indians, and because he looked at his glove afterward, wondering where the ball went.
Evidently the tread on the Clutch isn’t that good.
Proud supporter of the Cleveland.

Speaking of Jeter, I was watching a game this weekend and heard the announces, as usual, talk about how much of a “winner” he was. I’d really like to ask them, and everyone agrees with that sentiment, that if Jeter gets credit for the Yankees winning four championships between 1996 and 2000 then shouldn’t he also get blame for the fact that they haven’t won anything since 2001? Or is that entirely A-Rod’s fault?
