I know I’m behind here, but worst pinch hit at bat ever. Marte would’ve tied the game with a single swing – even though we were down 4 with 2 on.

Too bad we don’t have a guy having a good offensive year available to pinch hit for a guy who’s been a corpse all year. Or a guy who could pinch hit and then play that position and showcase himself for a trade.

Yes, but you have to let him see if he can adjust. A half season won;t be enough to answer that question.

No. All you can do is wait and see, period. Unless he goes totally in the tank he has to have a whole year. It was a small microcosm of what he’s going through today-he was helpless against O’Day. When do you think the last time he even took a swing against a submariner was? It could be 2006 for all I know.

Right. I’m not sure if I have marte-tinted glasses but I feel like I’ve been seeing him get deeper into counts lately. His homer the other night came on a 3-1 count – that AB was pure brilliance. But watching him consistently bail on curveballs makes me cringe.
