Palcal,
You might want to give full names next time when you talk about Indians players. Maybe you don’t know that Chris de la Cruz is a fungable middle infielder who got traded, while Kelvin de la Cruz is one of our probably top 10 prospects. Your going to give me a heart attack here.
Cord Phelps is making his debut in Mahoning Valley tonight. He’s hitting 2nd, playing 2B, and is 2-3 with a double so far.
I’m hoping he moves through the system quickly. Got to watch some of the C(ollege) W(orld) S(eries), he’s a good-looking ballplayer.

How about, no more writing about Phelps, there is nothing less significant than how a hitter is performing in his rookie-league debut, one month after being drafted out of college and after one week of using wood bats instead of aluminum.
Get back to me in a year.
Duh. If this were last year, we’d have relevant things to talk about. When Byrd is traded, we’ll have relevant things to talk about, and when the Olympics start, and when Manny does something stupid. For now, we’ve got Phelps, Meloan and the toxins in Wes Hodges’ apartment. Let’s talk about Matt McBride now.
Uhh, is there something we should know about Walter Diaz? He’s a 42nd round pick from 2007 who just went from the NYP to Buffalo?
What?
D
iaz, 23, has made the Triple-A level after just 19 professional games. A 48th round selection by the Indians in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft, Diaz has hit .288 (17-59) with four doubles and nine RBI for short-season Mahoning Valley of the New York-Penn League.
Yeah thats pretty crazy….
this must be a temporary thing…my guess is in a day or two someone from Akron will get promoted and Diaz will get some back down to wherever he belongs
