Wow that Teixeira deal is weird.
Dear Mr. Sabean, I hear you have a reputation of being stupid. Want to deal Lincecum or Cain? You can pick THREE of these 4 players for either: Borowski, Dellucci, Blake, Byrd.
it seems the braves gave him up awfully cheap, but then again its only for two months and he’s going to be awfully expensive to re-sign
Yea, definitely. There was no chance of them signing Tex, so at least they got a replacement who doesn’t need to be projected.

didn’t the indians almost sign guillen when vizquel left but backed out because of a failed physical?

Yeah, if I remember correctly Vizquel failed his physical with Seattle which stopped the potential trade for Guillen.

That is the case. I think i remember rumblings that the failed physical was sort of a cold feet thing. Not sure about that.

i saw something of the other, somewhere, that the giants won’t release vizquel because they don’t want to embarrass him, and despite sabeans questionable track record as a gm, that is really classy of sabean and the giants organization
Only as long as everyone doesn’t know about it i guess.

Haha….I new that was coming. I think Grady’s a fantastic leadoff hitter; I just think the lineup would be better with him hitting second (or third). Teams don’t have their best power hitter leading off, even if he is also their best in OBP.

Then again, it’s probably the fact that he hasn’t been able to lift a gallon of milk for 18 months.
Underwood or Manning did mention that he’s been carrying this around for awhile. Certainly can’t have helped. His dad was pretty young. Sad.

I don’t think the Blake thing is the worst thing in the world if it’s done with rules for Senor Wedge.
For instance, play Blake in the OF and 1B. He’s actually a pretty good fit for this team with the Garko mess, the BFran mess, and the Choo vague mess.
However, I can’t really hold out hope that Wedge wouldn’t just play him at third all the time.
What happened with that?

I don’t want to overstate it but I think a large part of our problems is the inclusion of players like Ben Francisco in the top half of the lineup.
I think I made this point a game or two ago. He has no business as our #3 hitter the way he’s been (not) hitting.
"Lotta heart in Cleveland." - Ian Hunter
by Denver Tribe Fan on Jul 29, 2008 10:35 PM EDT up reply actions
I’ve been saying this all year. We have been putting a lot of guys in positions where they don’t belong. Garko in the 4 hole. Ben in the three hole. Dellucci in the 2 hole. etc etc.
Tough call. Indians will finish the season in Chicago. It would be nice to knock them out of the postseason, but the Twins are awfully irritating with Nick Punto hitting like Al Kaline and Alexi Casilla and Buscher and Span and Harris all hitting over their heads. Maybe Detroit? Last hurrah for Ordonez and Sheffield and Pudge and Guillen? (Their pitching is too terrible.)
I just don’t know. I can’t stand Chicago. I’ll be at Kauffman Stadium Fri night for the Royals and Twins. KC, so the Tribe can finish 4th or Minnesota so Ozzie’s crew will be in Not First?
The Tribe will finish fourth regardless. For me it’s an issue of fortune. The Sox just had a fairy-tale year in 2005 where virtually every bounce went their way. So they’ve had their fun, and don’t deserve another so soon. The Twins have had this sort of luck through much of the decade, and are once again BABIP and RISP fortunate. The Twins are the team of the future in the AL Central. The Sox and the Tigers are in their final couple of seasons of contention, I think.
