We actually got a new one for once?
I kinda liked it when we had to post in like “Indians-Royals, May 13, 1998”

isn’t the game suspended if the inning going at 12:50am ends in a tie?

I hope so, I’m sleepy.

I thought there was a curfew rule only in one league. But I can’t remember which.

There is a curfew rule, but it says “imposed by law”—does Cleveland have a curfew?

you’re right, for a long time the AL did not have a rule like that
there were some changes involving suspended games last year but I’m not sure exactly what they are

No way he could have made the play at the plate. Runner on first was going and now way to get the DP. He played it as well as he could have.

Because it’s not a force play, and the catcher has no chance to set up.

Stop being such a pessimist. Marte’s defense is obviously much better than Casey’s, from day 1.

The “raw” characterization is a hallucination.
Marte almost always looks good in the field, and he makes plays that Blake couldn’t make four years ago and can’t make now.

Yes he can make plays that Blake can’t but he still gets eaten up on some groundballs. He has soft hands, but always seems to be going backward when fielding ground balls. He should be better than that with his skills.

I’m digging this.
As bad as Marte’s ungritty DP was, you gotta think about how many slick plays he made throughout the game that Blake…just would’ve miffed. His defense is one of the reasons we didn’t lose earlier.

sowers could have fielded that and thrown to marte for the out at third.
Dear Mr. Sabean, I hear you have a reputation of being stupid. Want to deal Lincecum or Cain? You can pick THREE of these 4 players for either: Borowski, Dellucci, Blake, Byrd.

I love when people pick out particular plays and posit “This player is losing baseball games.”
It’s so BBTN.

My whole point is that there were good reasons that Blake was playing 3B all this year before the season collapsed. Something that the majority of this board could not understand.
BBTN way overdoes it, but yes, you win games by making plays, and lose them by not making plays. I haven’t been paying close attention recently, but can you name 3 instances the entire year were Marte has specifically helped the tribe win a game? I cannot even name 1.

In the last 10 days Marte has hit a homerun in a game the Indians won 5-2.

What are you talking about? What do you want? You want them to play Andy Gonzalez at 3B? You wanted them to hold onto a valuable guy who’s deal is expiring so we could enjoy watching him finish out a decent season?
You’re harping on incidental, debatable and anecdotal things about the play of a player who doesn’t even have 400 career ABs.
The rest of us are supposed to be on board with your philosophy of saying Marte is “too raw” because you can’t “remember when he specifically helped the tribe win a game”? As opposed to, you know, watching the games and looking at the numbers and seeing some reasons for optimism?
Or what, you want a bunch of people to send apology notes to Casey Blake?

I’m dumbfounded. Despite my literally 100s of posts on Andy Marte, you really still do not have a clue on my position on Marte and the 3B problem that has faced and faces the tribe in the past, present and future.
