We need Dellucci to got 3 for 4 every night for the next 3 weeks.
GO DELLUCCI!
I CAN NOT ROOT FOR DELLUCCI.
The 2008 Cleveland Indians: Home of the Triple Steal, Unassisted Triple Play, and not a heck of a lot more.
That was like the highlight of his career in my mind.

I just checked into this- turns out he was on the Arizona championship team and once hit a homerun in the playoffs. Still, could that actually be cooler than hitting a gamewinner of Justin Christ Chamberlin? I mean, I wouldn’t know, being an Indians fan…
I’ll be with the game after the Stephen Lynch special on Comedy Central. Last year this would have been horrible to say. This year, I don’t feel so bad about it.
When we blow this thing up, does Garko stay with the big league club?

well, who do you think has the best long term future: Garko, Aubrey or Brown? I think I’m still with Garko.
Martinez.
I’m just being flip. But he does have an option left.

on 50 pitches nonetheless.
Dear Mr. Sabean, I hear you have a reputation of being stupid. Want to deal Lincecum or Cain? You can pick THREE of these 4 players for either: Borowski, Dellucci, Blake, Byrd.
Another shutout for Arroyo today.

I watched that game. During the rain delay Arroyo said he felt he pitched worse in Cleveland than he did in Toronto (where he gave 10 runs in one inning), but that he was lucky that the Indians hitters were not centering the ball.
uh, so I hopefully get to see only the good parts of this game, I meant to add.

2008: let the hate flow through you.
What else is new?

Been meaning to say, I think your “Even when we’re winning I hate us” is one of my two candidates for post of the season.

hey, remember the beaning that went on in Cleveland against the Twins? Maybe if this game gets out of hand we’ll see some action.
I seem to recall hearing something about Dellucci being one of the best-dressed players in the game, though the source escapes me. Can anybody back me up on that?

10-2 Rays

The Rays remind me of the Indians from 94-95. How the just bust out of nowhere and start destroying teams.
Funny you should mention it, I was just thinking how totally awesome it would be to have Russ Branyan on my softball team.

Giles did have 4 seasons over 35 homeruns. But looking up to this point in his career minor league and major league numbers, I think its a fair comp. I wouldn’t expect THAT much power.
There are some fantastic rumors out there on the comments thread section of:

Sorry about not posting the link correcty.
You take out his May where he only had 28 bats and OPSed 247, his season looks pretty stellar.

All of my earlier posts have disappeared. Oh well, I didn’t really like them anyway.
I did a Google image search for "Andy Marte." It turned up zero results.
So Slocum has pitched in the majors before… 2006. He loves when the Indians fall out of contention, he gets to play!
as opposed to Marte liking when we get blown out?

hey, nice signature. just noticed it. Marte is the guy who catches the idiots who can’t throw pre-game.

if it weren’t for this theme we have going, this’d make a decent avatar

Win or lose, why is this team so boring?
I did a Google image search for "Andy Marte." It turned up zero results.
Seventy-six games to go, and these guys play like zombies. Like a team playing the last week of September. With the exception of CC and Grady, as DaytonDogg says. If they were dogs, their tails would be between their legs. What a whipped bunch of guys.
Much of this must be a function of a terrible pen. Players wait for the inevitable. It is surprising how ineffective the Bisons pitchers have been this season.
See Indians, this is how you fucking hit … take what the pitcher gives you and go to the opposite field.

Yes, we could use more hitters who don’t strike out so much and are able to hit with authority the other way. We sometimes do that, but not often enough, especially for an offense with relatively little power.
Manufacturing runs is another skill we could do better with – of course, we need more guys in this lineup that are better at manufacturing runs, instead of just relying on the occasional homerun. More pieces we hopefully will attain soon. :-)
Just my 2 cents.
The "cream of the crop" doesn't always rise to the top.
each pitcher is worse than the next, and that’s hard to do when it’s Paul Byrd that’s the first pitcher
As Hamilton said, some more hard throwers would be nice to add to the bullpen. Of course, they need to have solid to good command, but we need to find some of these guys – they’re certainly out there. Other teams are somehow able to get a hold of them.
That’s why someone why Luis Perdomo is intriguing, despite being 24-YO in AA – he has that type of electric arm we could use in the bullpen – let’s hope he develops.
Good news: Oakland leads the White Sox 7-1 in the bottom of the 9th – the Twins would be only a game behind the White Sox after tonight.
Just my 2 cents.

I can’t blame these relievers. They never know if it’s going to be their last time pitching .. so they want to get as much camera time as possible.
Lewis looked like he had more velocity tonight, hitting 88-90 pretty consistently. Better, but not quite all the way back. The runs scored on a walk and two hits on off-speed pitches.
Slocum came in throwing 87-88, which I thought was lower than he normally threw. I checked Fan Graphs and they had him at 91.4 in 2006. I was anxious to see him throw, because often pitchers will throw harder out of the bullpen than they do as starters because they don’t need to pace themselves. His velocity was disappointing to say the least, and the Twins showed him how successful he might just be throwing like that.
Cleveland’s bullpen has struggled all season, and cutting the popular Borowski was a move the team felt it had to make.
-Tonight’s AP recap
Ahh, yes. I would walk into the Jake and see hundreds of fans wearing Borowski jerseys.
Maybe AP meant he was popular with his teammates:
“Joe meant a lot to everyone in the clubhouse,” said manager Eric Wedge, “but you go through so many things during a season that you have to learn to put that aside and play the game.”
