OT, But Wow: Francoeur to AA
That's surprising considering how long he's been in the majors and how well he's been. Could Atlanta's hitting coach be as bad as Shelton?

It is?
The guy did well in 250 AB as a rookie.
After that, two seasons with 742 and 782 OPS.
Where exactly was the part where he established himself as anything but a mediocre hitter?

I more meant the 650ish OPS out of a corner OF. That certainly wasnt anticipated.

But after the prior two seasons, it’s more like a Garko-sucks surprise than a Hafner-sucks surprise.

This is the thing that should happen to Melky Cabrera too.

The one thing that protects Cabrera is that he primarily plays in CF, unlike Francoeur, so lesser production from Cabrera can be more tolerated than lesser production from Francoeur, who plays in RF.
While Cabrera is not a great offensive player, a .700+ OPS from a CF, especially one who is considered a solid defender like Cabrera, is more acceptable than a .650 OPS from a RF.
Just my 2 cents – no offense.
The "cream of the crop" doesn't always rise to the top.

He also plays in a beastly offense, so the expectations for him are probably lower because of that, too.

Agreed, whereas Atlanta’s offense doesn’t have near the firepower or experience up and down the lineup – Francoeur is in fact expected to be one of those with firepower, but hasn’t been to the extent ATL was expecting so far in 2008 – just 8 HRs over halfway into the season.

That “beastly” offense has scored fewer runs than MIN and PIT.

REPORT FROM ATLANTA: Rioting in the streets, rivers of tears flowing down the connector, rolling blackouts, massive upheaval and chaos, cats and dogs living together…
... not really … everyone kinda saw this coming.
