When is Larry Dolan going to sell the club? I could buy a piece of it.
Noted investor Albert Belle, from a sua sponte phone call to PD Indians beat writer Paul Hoynes. Belle is displeased with the Sabathia trade. He considers it further evidence of the Indians' underwhelming financial commitment to winning.

Albert’s “logic” is iron-clad. In the same statement, he a. criticizes the Indians for being unwilling to spend money on players and b. says you don’t have to spend a lot to be successful (viz. Billy Beane). He should be on talk radio!!

Joe Belle brings new perspective and wisdom to all subjects. He has seen the world from Cleveland, Chicago, Baltimore and the inside of his car trying to run over children.

Part of me needs the kind of excitement that Belle would bring with this current club

As illogical as Belle’s comments are, it’s cool that he cares (is that right word?) about the Indians on some level. Still my favorite Indian of all time.
Also, it’s cool that he has three kids.
And by “cool” I mean “cause for contacting Arizona social services.”

Albert Belle was an awesome Indians player. He’s one of my favorites, too. Can you imagine him with Eric Wedge?

He’d hit him with a (slightly modified in a technically illicit manner unbeknownst to him) bat. Then eat him.

Albert Belle is and will always be one of my all-time favorite Indians. When I think back on those mid-90s teams, the first image that comes to my head is the view of the plate from the CF-camera looking at Belle’s batting stance with him staring back at the pitcher looking like a giant ball of tension ready to completely unleash on whatever the pitcher threw him.

Absolutely. The way he held his bat straight up and slightly away from his body is burned into my brain.
I’m from Minnesota originally; I’ll always remember watching Albert in the Metrodome during that insane September/October when he hit something ridiculous like 25 home runs. (Was that 1995?) That’s probably an exageration, but it was something incredible. Anyway, there’s nothing like sitting amongst enemy fans while they boo the crap out of “Joey” only to watch him jack one into the left field stands and scowl his way around the basis.
God that was fun. Made me feel like a bad-ass instead of the bespectacled doughy hipster that I was.

Belle was an accounting major at LSU. I seem to remember reading he is now a CPA. He knows advanced calculus, and therefore would be a better owner than John Henry.

I hate it when I am dumber and less athletic then other people. Leaves me nothing.

We have accepted you into our fraternity of Indians fandom. That’s even better than being athletic or smart.
