Pitchers: Zach Jackson (bounty from CC trade) vs. Daniel Cabrera

What’s the line on number of Cabrera walks? I’m going to go with 7.
If you need me, I'll be senselessly rooting for Sizemore 40/40 for the remainder of 2008.

Prediction:
Grady goes 2 for 2 with a pair of bombs and three walks.
If you need me, I'll be senselessly rooting for Sizemore 40/40 for the remainder of 2008.

This really makes me smile. Mo Williams is going to be a fan favorite.

I’m excited about this trade, especially since a legit second scorer allows guys like Wally to do what they do best: shoot spot up 3s. For the record, I’d feel much better if I read that Brown was implementing a new offense … or any offense for that matter
by Fios on Aug 14, 2008 6:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
A friend of mine who is a Spurs fan once referred to their offense as the GMA offense, meaning “generally milling about”. I think GMA-LHP would describe Cleveland’s offense; generally milling about with Lebron on the high post.
by APV on Aug 14, 2008 7:01 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I had NBA League Pass last year and it was stunning to see how bad that offense could be, I mean to call it stagnant probably doesn’t capture it. It was so frustrating to see how often the ball would stay outside the arc, I mean not even an interior pass, and then it would turn into “oh, crap, there’s 4 seconds left on the shot clock.” They were, by far, the worst team at turning defensive stops into points.
by Fios on Aug 14, 2008 7:06 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yea, but I think the whole lack-of-offense problem was mainly a product of having such a huge drop-off from 1st to 2nd best offensive players. It was Lebron, then who? Sure, we had decent shooters but for them to get open it took lots of effort from Lebron. Last playoffs, who was our 2nd best scorer? Wally? That says it all!
Williams is legit. The Cavs are soooo much better today than they were Monday that it is almost impossible to over exaggerate.
by obobcatu on Aug 14, 2008 7:07 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
This is actually the one thing that worries me about this trade, the idea that a second guy is a panacea for their offensive woes. It’s just not that simple. Yes, adding Williams is a definite plus but the Cavs must overcome the lack of ball movement. If you don’t bother to run an offense, it’s not hard to defend against it.
by Fios on Aug 14, 2008 7:14 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
It’s basically the whole Chicken-or-Egg thing. Do you need guys who can move the ball before there can be ball movement? Or is it vice-versa?
by obobcatu on Aug 14, 2008 7:17 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
well, an offensive system would help, too. as much as i love LeBron, “LeBron is the offense” isn’t exactly an inspiring stance from the head coach. with LeBron and Williams creating opportunities for the other guys and stretching the d, i think the pressure is off of brown to get real creative on O. this is an awesome trade…absolutely awesome.

Sacramone did a difficult mount on the balance beam, falling off and pretty much costing the team the slim hope they had just acquired after one of the Chinese gymnasts fell off the beam.
The Spanish team made the unfortunate choice of having their picture taken while all of them were pulling their eye sockets back in a vague attempt to look oriental.

To catch the flyballs that might be home runs. See, this idea would mean we don’t need NO STINKIN’ REPLAY TV.
If you need me, I'll be senselessly rooting for Sizemore 40/40 for the remainder of 2008.

A second inning of Juan Rincon is just playing with fire after he gave you 1 good inning.

Actually, getting two scoreless innings out of Juan Rincon might be a sign that it’s time to hit the craps tables.

rehab was smooth sailing up until Akron. Had some control and HR problems in some of his early outings, dragging his overall line down. Over his last 7 appearances has only allowed 1 earned run (9IP, 5H, 4BB, 10K).

I love when Sportsline does this:
F. Cabrera (3.72) pitches to
J. Carroll (.265, 0 hr, 24 rbi): Strike looking (92/fastball), Strike looking (92/fastball), Ball (82/slider), Ball (92/fastball), Strike looking (91/fastball), Foul (93/fastball).

It’s interesting reading through the thread of a game I watched but was not on line for. It was like watching a bad horror film that I’d seen before, and knowing when all the innocent people are about to get slaughtered. Is it 2009 yet?
