Prediction:
Grady goes 2 for 2 with a pair of bombs and three walks.
If you need me, I'll be senselessly rooting for Sizemore 40/40 for the remainder of 2008.
I’m excited about this trade, especially since a legit second scorer allows guys like Wally to do what they do best: shoot spot up 3s. For the record, I’d feel much better if I read that Brown was implementing a new offense … or any offense for that matter
A friend of mine who is a Spurs fan once referred to their offense as the GMA offense, meaning “generally milling about”. I think GMA-LHP would describe Cleveland’s offense; generally milling about with Lebron on the high post.
I had NBA League Pass last year and it was stunning to see how bad that offense could be, I mean to call it stagnant probably doesn’t capture it. It was so frustrating to see how often the ball would stay outside the arc, I mean not even an interior pass, and then it would turn into “oh, crap, there’s 4 seconds left on the shot clock.” They were, by far, the worst team at turning defensive stops into points.
Yea, but I think the whole lack-of-offense problem was mainly a product of having such a huge drop-off from 1st to 2nd best offensive players. It was Lebron, then who? Sure, we had decent shooters but for them to get open it took lots of effort from Lebron. Last playoffs, who was our 2nd best scorer? Wally? That says it all!
Williams is legit. The Cavs are soooo much better today than they were Monday that it is almost impossible to over exaggerate.
This is actually the one thing that worries me about this trade, the idea that a second guy is a panacea for their offensive woes. It’s just not that simple. Yes, adding Williams is a definite plus but the Cavs must overcome the lack of ball movement. If you don’t bother to run an offense, it’s not hard to defend against it.
It’s basically the whole Chicken-or-Egg thing. Do you need guys who can move the ball before there can be ball movement? Or is it vice-versa?
well, an offensive system would help, too. as much as i love LeBron, “LeBron is the offense” isn’t exactly an inspiring stance from the head coach. with LeBron and Williams creating opportunities for the other guys and stretching the d, i think the pressure is off of brown to get real creative on O. this is an awesome trade…absolutely awesome.

Welcome to the team, kid. Good luck climbing out.
Andy Marte is free at last! Now, if only he could hit a breaking ball...
haha, I can imaging Wedge sitting at the top not letting the guy out until he’s got a full beard.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
Ahhhh, this is why Milwaukee wanted CC instead of him.

Wait, Josh Barfield is in AA now?
I go out of the country for one week and Josh Barfield is in AA and Trevor Crowe sucks again?
You guys really fell apart on me.
I hate to break this to you, but Victor has been sent to AA as well.

sorry about that – it was the first good, small magic helmet picture that came up on Google Images.

Well, Jackson seems determined not to lose this thing with walks. I commend him for that much.

Anyone read Scene (that free thing at most stores) magazine? It’s just advertisements piled on top of more advertisements. Only useful thing I learned was that David Byrne is coming to Cleveland October 23.
http://www.everythingthathappens.com/tour.html
Tour Dates can be found there. Check if he’s going to wherever you live.
So At/dkins says there’s no rush to promote Mills, they want him to be a finished high-A prospect before AA apparently.

can someone following fill me in on the ESPN poll?
What’s been the biggest controversy at the Olympics?
-Spanish basketball team photo
-Alicia Sacramone’s balance beam routine
? what’s controversial about either? Besides Alicia being pretty hot for a gymnast?
Sacramone did a difficult mount on the balance beam, falling off and pretty much costing the team the slim hope they had just acquired after one of the Chinese gymnasts fell off the beam.
The Spanish team made the unfortunate choice of having their picture taken while all of them were pulling their eye sockets back in a vague attempt to look oriental.

I feel so dirty because she’s probably like 16 years old. They need an age limit so I can feel comfortable ogling.

As I said once after attending a poetry reading by a ridiculously hot Palestinian writer: Nothing fosters international relations like hot babes. If this isn’t the Olympic spirit, I don’t know what is.

OT: I saw Pineapple Express on Tuesday. It’s pretty damn funny. It’s really funny if you like weed. It’s even funnier if you like your weed with a does of ultra-violence and Bill Lumberg.

i thought it was really bad, actually. and i was on weed (this is an adult audience, right?) when i saw it…figured it would be unstoppable, and i was way, way let down.
