Well Stubby of course was a late-blooming career minor leaguer who had a cup of coffee with the Cardinals. Currently a hitting coach with the Astros single-A affiliate. Hasn’t played pro baseball since 2006.

Garcia is a scrub shortstop in the Mets system.

And Saunders is a highly-touted AAA-prospect with the Mariners. Hit a homer against the Cubans.

The odds are pretty good that the winner of this game will advance to the medal round, while the loser will stay home. Both teams still have very tough matchups against Japan ahead, so they may need to win their other three games to advance.

Purple Row is the SBN Rockies blog.

All kinds of parallels to that here … I like your sig, by the way. Don’t really know exactly what it means, but I like it. I was pretty critical of Hurdle in the playoffs last year, although mostly it was because I thought he should have been playing Spilborghs over Taveras in pretty much every game.

I remember this Stern guy — the Red Sox Rule 5’ed him off the Braves a few years ago, sort of a poor man’s Coco Crisp. Apparently a free agent now, which makes this kind of like a glorified independent league stint for him.

oh yeah. He’s our last A prospect postion player. The team seems to be a little tired of Tavares, and his very low OBP. The fact that Tavares leads the NL in steals is over looked
