Drudge said earlier that there’s a place in KC that did work for Obama before that is printing Obama-Bayh stickers, and also says that Kaine and Bayh have been notified they aren’t it.

Don’t you love how bad Texas’s record is compared to their offense?

potentially bad news for 2009: Obama’s picking Jhonny Peralta. I hear we get Jim Webb and a DTBNL in return.
So what are people drinking tonight?

Carmona’s stuff is just filthy, the Rangers kind of have to watch it and it sort of corkskrews out of the zone.
Every time, I feel down about 2008, I go to Cot’s Contracts and look up Carmona’s contract and can’t help but smile.
This one is also brings a smile to my face.

Has anybody linked to Marte’s self-assessment on indians.com yet?
“It’s not going so well right now,” Marte said.
“Now that I’ve got this opportunity, I’m trying to do everything perfect. This is the most important opportunity in my career.”
that doesn’t sound like he’s putting any pressure on himself.
Fingers crossed, but breathing normally

I honestly just want to smack Wedge when I read that. One bad day at the plate and he’s benched. As if benching him for three months wasn’t enough.
Hey, look, it’s Extremely Valuable Bench Player Ramon Vazquez!
Yea. I play a lot of indy games and shooters (Battlefield 2 for a year or so). I love RPG’s … but the western RPG has totally sucked since Bioware cashed in and other companies bit the bullet.
I have zero desire to play any of the new generation consoles. All the games look like the same old tired mechanics, with a new coat of paint.
I agree. I got a Wii as a wedding gift last year, and I have to admit, I don’t play it much. I am still stuck on PC strategy games.
Have you heard of a Russian company called 1C yet? They are a company that is taking a lot of old classics and revamping them with no graphics. They made a cool remake of the old SSI game Fantasy General. It’s called Fantasy Wars. A hex-based strat game with some rpg mechanics. They are also releasing King’s Bounty remake this fall (a Sega Genesis classic).
You can probably find a demo of Fantasy Wars on there. It didn’t make the store shelves in the US (even though Atari was the publisher).
I went through a FF III/Secret of Mana/Chronotrigger renaissance earlier this year. I didn’t get much done, but man, it was fun.
Do you dig any of the Total War games?
Yea, but I completely suck at RTS’s. So I played TW:Rome more like you would play a Civ game (and letting the computer do the battles for me). I suck at micromanaging units.
TW Rome was fun on a Civ level, but I dug the battles, too. Medieval II lost a lot on the battles, but was better on city building. I used to be a huge Sim fan, do you know if the new Simcity is any good?

Here’s my song of the moment. I have looped it about 10 times now. I love the bass line.
Please share yours.
That’s an interesting song. I have a horrible habit of forgetting about great artists from the past when they release new albums. Sometimes they can release some of their best work after they are “done” (commercially speaking).
Yeah that entire CD (Grown Backwards) is really good. It’s one of my favorites in my collection. David Byrne’s stuff is very different than most anything else out there. His new cd is called Everything that Happens Will Happen Today. I think you can download a few of the tracks free here.
I’m totally a homer, but I listened to the tune “Gasoline” on this page a few times on a long drive today.
That’s another favorite of mine. Very unconventional what he does there, slowing down the last line of every verse.
Yea, I actually like that “Faces” song a lot more. Gasoline has some good lyrics, but is more of a straight forward rock song. His voice kind of has a Neil Diamond feel to it. That’s not a bad thing.
Well, you know, he’s all about Dylan of course. Those are both from his last record, which is his only fully produced one, and it’s quite diverse in terms of arrangements and production. I was just talking to him about what he wants to do next, and he said sometimes he thinks he wants to do an all-rocker record, sometimes something more elaborate like the last one.
I’ll keep it short, but awesome:

Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
I’m always confused how or why some of you guys listen to the other team’s broadcasts. Are Manning/Underpants or Hammy that annoying? Or do you live too far away to get the local feeds?
That guy is an idiot. He has no idea what Carmona has looked like this season or did look like in 2006. Sloppy, cursory look at the stats, nothing more. Probably in his underwear.
Haha. Yeah, he probably just needed to fill space in his crappy column and thought, “hmm…that Fausto guy was awesome but now is not so awesome. I’ll add him.” His family (plus toxicadam) are probably his only readers anyway. Forgive if that guy is your brother or something toxicadam.
8 pitches, 3 outs very nice

Hey Jay, what about Jordan Brown? Is he just going to be the new Michael Aubrey once we let him go? Or is Aubrey someone we might hold onto and either trade Brown or let him spend another year in AAA?
I don’t really know — how many weak-ass low-ceiling 1B do we really need on the 40-man, that’s the question.
Aubrey will get a fourth option year if we keep him around, but Brown isn’t even on the 40-man yet. With his weak stats, lack of valuable bench skills and injury history, maybe we just take our chances and expose him to Rule 5.
Do you think he has any trade value? I mean those previous awards, his past K:BB ration and his (relative) youth have to hold some value for a team. Someone like the A’s?
I ask this, because I believe La Porta or Victor is our 1b of the future and I don’t see how Brown fits into our organization right now.
No, I can’t see how he’d have any trade value — teams can’t even tell if he’s healthy, and he was always a low-ceiling guy anyway.
Previous awards? Like what?
Those consecutive “player of the year” awards in his respective league. Maybe that wasn’t such a good bullet point.
Ah yes, MVP of the Carolina and Eastern Leagues in 2006 and 2007.
I don’t think anyone cares about those awards, per se. I mean, Victor was EL MVP back in 2002, but it’s a little different when you’re a switch-hitting catcher whose OPS is 100 points above the second-best hitter in the league.
Incidentally, check out his minorleaguesplits for 2008 — Sackmann has really jazzed up the site recently. Anyway, you can see that he hasn’t looked particularly good in any month, except in May when he rode a nutty .406 BABIP all the way to an OPS of … 841.
Marlon Byrd and his 38 career homeruns can really admire a homerun that neither ties the game nor puts his team in the lead. Not to mention, it clears the fence by 3 feet.
Yay insurance run

haha awesome stupid manager

I need to go back and count how many multi-hit games Francisco has. He seems to either be 3-4 or 0-4.
I lost my phone. And just got my replacement but have to call from another line to get it activated.
But I don’t have another line.
Arrrrgh.
cleveland media insists he’s not a real closer until he picks up his first save after his first blown save.

Better hope Hammy isn’t calling the game, then. :)
“Jeremy Sowers, perfect through one inning!”
“Wow! Sowers has a no-hitter after 1 1/3 innings!”
“Bottom of the fifth, Texas has two on with Hamilton coming to bat. I’ll tell ya, Mike, Jeremy Sowers hasn’t given up a three-run bomb in what feels like months!”
“Welcome back to the park, Tom Hamilton and Mike Heegan with you. You know, I was just thinking that it’s been 65 years since we had a starting pitcher inexplicably collapse and convulse on the mound during an inning!”

US comes back with 3-run HR to tie at 4.
commentator on LaPorta
LaPorta fights off a high fastball for an opposite-field single.
The name on the back of the jersey is the same, but the person currently wearing LaPorta bares to resemblance to the guy who was trying to take every outside fastball he saw down the left-field line in the first half of the tournament
.
A friend of mine just asked me how old Jensen Lewis was. Not sure myself, I looked it up.
