Chris Lambert will be called up from Triple-A Toledo to make his major league debut for the Tigers. A 25-year-old right-hander, Lambert was 12-8 with a 3.50 ERA in 26 starts for the Mud Hens. He was acquired from St. Louis last August as the player to be named in a trade for left-hander Mike Maroth.
Eeek! Kryptonite!

ok why can’t this game be on national tv????
You have no idea the physical toll that three vasectomies have on a person
This is a bit off topic, but I’ve been reading that the Indians might keep Sal through the season. You think that might actually play out? Just curious what you folks thought.
It makes sense if they wait until the rosters to expand to bring up Victor. Sal’s role will probably be reduced to pinch-hitting for Marte.
after last night’s improbably win, Eric is clearly going with his gut, the same coin or dice, or whatever he uses to make decisions.

Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
11 game hitting streak for Garko!?

Dear Indians offense,
I am going to finally see Cliff pitch on Labor Day. Pretty exciting, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, it would really cool if he was set up to win his 20th game on that day as well.
Just throwing it out there.
Best regards,

man i love linux but it truly suxx for flash. sometimes i think developers purposely break applications for linux. mlb gameday works on my mac & used to work on linux, but all of a sudden it stopped.
Does anybody know why Gutz isn’t playing in right? He was also in left last night. What’s the deal with that?

I think it has to do with the right-handed heavy DET lineup and the lefties on the mound the last two nights.
RF in DET is bigger. But I think it’s the lineup and the pitcher handedness.
Not considering all the batters except Granderson are right handed and the Indians’ pitchers are left handed. You expect them to pull the ball. So LF will get most of the action.
That makes sense.

I saw Martin pitch last week up here in CT when the Aeroes played the defenders; he looked downright nasty. He also fielded his position very well, snagging a couple hard hit balls. He really looked like a men among boys out here.

that’s a good at bat, good result, but some bad process.
he flailed and managed to poke one into LCF for a hit. but he should have let it by for ball four. it was either last night or the night before, he hacked at a ball way outside and made an easy out on what would have been an easy ball four.
i’m glad he’s getting hits. but he’d be better served by not swinging at pitches that far out there.

Yea. I’m not a fan of AJ Pierzynski, but I’m pretty sure the White Sox broadcast team is enough to make me want them to lose, player personnel aside.
It’s a tough decision. I mean, sure, the White Sox have Punkzinski and Ozzie, but then the RedSox counter with PEDroia and… welll… who the hell else cares, they’ve got PEDroia.

It’s not that Ben doesn’t have some value or some skills. But he’s unlikely to ever be better than he’s playing right now and his skill set would be more valuable for a team made up differently than our own. So his value is more for another team than ours, and he’s probably pretty easily replaceable for us. Think Coco Crisp, only with a slightly different skill set.
You’re probably 100% right. I’m just scared of making him another phillips or guthrie or giles.

He’s about to be 27. His high OPS in AAA or the majors is .878.
And he’s a corner OF. There’s not a lot of risk in dealing Ben Francisco.
I’d rather keep Francisco and deal Choo, personally. But of the Francisco/Gutierrez/Choo group, Francisco would probably bring back the most in a trade, so it makes sense to deal him. To make room for LaPorta I mean. If the Indians don’t plan to start 2009 with LaPorta in the outfield then I would just as soon keep Francisco.

I think I enjoyed Ferd’s suck the most.
If you need me, I'll be senselessly rooting for Sizemore 40/40 for the remainder of 2008.
haha lazy fly turns into HR, and a hit that Hammy makes sound like it has a chance doesn’t even reach the track
how did this one end in < 3 hours?
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
Cliff Lee.

So, let’s pitch Cliff on short rest against Seattle on the 31st. Then we can say, “Cliff had 20 wins BEFORE SEPT.”

so Cliff Lee won’t be a Cy Young winner from a team with a losing record

What does that mean, 7 more wins in a row until we’re in the playoff hunt?? Crazy I tell ya… If Randy Quaid shows up in the outfield, I’ll freak!!!
Baseball fans are junkies, and their heroin is the statistic. - Robert S. Wieder
listen we’re going to screw this up, either we need to stop winning or we need to go like 30-5 over the remainder of the season.

Yes. We need a sign, either way (as if Carroll going yard wasn’t one, heh). My grip on the ledge of cold rationality is weakening the longer this continues.
That said, I will add here that if the Indians do put on some kind of absurdly epic run and end up, like, 1 game short of the postseason, I am very likely going to run off and join a monastery.

In Cliff we trust.
Unless our team starts to tire out .. our next 3 weeks of games are very favorable. 7 against KC, 4 against Baltimore and 3 against Seattle. Then you have a 3 game set against the Chisox in there, just to tickle our hinies with a feather.
If you are going to make some kind of epic run .. that is a pretty favorable path ahead.
we really are talking ourselves into this aren’t we

Never underestimate the power of a clevelander to dissapoint themselves.
