Tribe signs Tim Fedroff
Baseball America is reporting that the Indians have signed UNC right fielder Tim Fedroff for $725,000, which is well above slot for a 7th rounder. Of this year's Cleveland's draftees, only first-rounder Lonnie Chisenhall ($1.1 million) has signed for more.
BA says that Fedroff "has strong forearms and wrists and packs a powerful punch at the plate." He has good speed, but his arm is likely to make him "more of a candidate for left field at the pro level."

Just to make it easier on everyone. . .
indiansfan and I think he should be in the starting lineup by next Thursday. Jay, noting that he’s already 10 months older than Nick Weglarz, pronounces him old for his level. Mauichuck says he’ll make it, but by the time he does, Cleveland will be gone. Several of the regulars agree that the Indians overpaid. brick says that Jeremy Guthrie is a good example of that. GFP mixes himself a drink.
Most of the lurkers suspect that even if he makes it, Wedge will misuse him, and that he’ll be blocked by Casey Blake. Everyone agrees that I should stop using the subject line.

You forgot “many fans say that it is proof that Dolan is cheap, choosing to blow $725,000 on this scrub instead of putting the money towards signing CC, Manny and AJ Burnett.” How long until we have a minor league game thread on Fedroff’s debut? How long until someone decries his 2-for-28 start as proof he’ll be nothing? How long after that until the words “adjusting to wooden bats” appears?
Everybody go on home. It’s Friday, a beautiful summer day, and Ken came up with a perfect summary of everything we were going to say. It’s that kind of productivity that allows us to knock off early.
