ATTENTION LGT: Jhonny Peralta is NOT NOT NOT moving to 3B for 2009. Please stop including any form of "... move Jhonny to 3B..." in any post.
Thank you. That is all.

awwwwwwwwww
If you need me, I'll be senselessly rooting for Sizemore 40/40 for the remainder of 2008.

The Peralta to 3B rumor is being promulgated by Terry Pluto as much as anyone at this point.

I support moving Jhonny to 3B in order to set up a sac fly.

Not that I’m saying this is even remotely likely, but if the Indians were able to acquire, say, Brian Roberts, why wouldn’t they look into Peralta at 3B?

I wonder if Peralta could play 1b? That might actually be an easier transition for him.

I think the first part of your question pretty much sums it up.

I think it makes sense for the Indians to target Roberts, I’m not sure they’d give up enough for 1 year of him though. I think it’s entirely possible that the best IF target for the Indians this offseason is a 2B.

I think they would look into it under that circumstance, but it’s rather like the old Steve Martin routine, “How To Have A Million Dollars and Not Pay Any Taxes” …
“Okay, first thing, get yourself a million dollars. Got it? Okay, now next …”

Didn’t you say in another thread about possibly Orlando Hudson? Doesn’t that leave us with Peralta at 3B? I’m not saying it should be the intended offseason move, just that it’s more likely than you and gte suggest.

I don’t think we’re likely to sign Hudson. He won’t be cheap, and the Indians are unlikely to overpay for a guy who misses the last six weeks of every season with an injury.

So we’ve identified two guys that won’t come for less than market value. We could easily do the same for third basemen. I just don’t see why were so easily willing to dismiss that the offseason pickup could be a second baseman.

Only because it’s tough to make a real value trade, and acquiring a 2B would be more costly and less valuable than acquiring a 3B of equivalent value, assuming Jhonny and AbaCab are the constants.

Less valuable to us, yes. I don’t see how acquiring a 2B of equivalent value would cost more though. Whatever, this is way past where I intended to get. My only point was that the chances of the Indians acquiring a 2B this offseason were roughly higher than the zero percent that the original post said.

Fat Third Baseman doesn’t have the ring of a nickname that Fat Shortstop does.

Bring back Ron Cey — short, bow-legged fat third baseman!

Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.

Entry #3: Beau Mills, due to being asked in an interview on a blog whether he used his bonus to buy a fat ride.
No toys yet (laugh). I put a lot into savings. Thinking about the future. But I am going to buy a car this month or next month. I’m looking at a Range Rover.

I’m a fan of results 4 and 8.
