Andy was what, 2-2 with a walk last night? And they have two games tomorrow, which means Carroll will most likely play one of those at third.
total f****ing crap.

if victor was catching it’d be 3-1 them instead of 2-1 us.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
there was a video on this fella on the mlb.com front page yesterday and i couldn’t bear to listen because
1) they were clueless
2) they couldn’t pronounce his name
3) they were fantasy idiots and all they cared about was their precious league types

I assume so. Him and Jody Gerut in the NL.

In hindsight, he has gone to later innings. With his boomstick.

STUPID FAN FACT:
“it’s been since 1995 that the Indians have won 100 games in a season” (said in OMG ITS BEEN SO LONG tone)
ummm… that’s not a long time at all.

Interesting that Cliff could end the season with wins > first two digits of ERA

I’m pretty sure now the Cy is Cliff’s. Halladay deserves a look, but has too many losses to get a fair shake. The only guy who can beat Cliff is Frankie Rodriguez with his flashy saves record, but relievers generally only get the Cy when there isn’t a dominant performance by a starter. The combination of the record and the Angels’ success could get a bandwagon started. I wouldn’t rule that out, but I think the trophy is going to the Dark Side.
damn a triple woulda been nice.

Thank god he fixed himself….he was one of the more exciting peices of the puzzle in ’07.

No, it’s not meloan time. It’s time for Cliff to get the cg win.
(to help his cy young campaign and my fantasy team)

Pfft. Astro. Asdrub.

If there was a Scott Elarton Award for best fifth starter, Cliff would win it by biblical proportions.

His HR totals are going to skyrocket. Both as a pitcher and as a hitter.

Anyone have the quick math to know whether Cliff will still lead the league in ERA if these two runs come in?
Giving up 4 earned in a game for Cliff this year is like giving up 10 for a human

So who was better: 2008 Lee or 2007 Sabathia? I haven’t looked at the numbers recently and am posing the question before I go off to do so.
It’s not even close, is it? ’08 Lee by, well, not a mile, but…a portion of a kilometer?
by Logodaedalus on Sep 12, 2008 10:04 PM EDT up reply actions
That’s a tough one. CC was burned in a lot of starts last season due to a lack of run support and still ended up near 20 wins. Personally, I’d be happy with either season. It’s really a toss-up. Let the nerdy number crunchers determine who had a better year, but I would be indifferent to having ’07 CC or ’08 Cliff pitch a super important game.
They seem to have a huge area…. I couldn’t watch any of the Padres series earlier this year either

Though…. I could watch both the Dodgers and Rockies serieses, actually so I don’t know

Unless Phoenix metro is part of one of those territories but Tucson isn’t, which could explain it

Any way you slice the pie, it sucks to pay for something and not be able to get it. And where are the condensed games? Huh?
absolutely. if a game is blacked out, I should be able to get it on actual TV
by Logodaedalus on Sep 12, 2008 10:40 PM EDT up reply actions
I don’t have tv out here. So when I watch a game on mlb I am not being taken away from anyone’s audience. Subscriptions and PPV are the most economically efficient forms of television. Ad-supported is extremely inefficient. (The Super Bowl generates a little over a dollar per household.) So converting the audience to a pay/sub audience should be a high priority.
Okay, you got me. I pay you 14.95 per month. I’m good for you. You should want more like me and less like the free riders watching on television. So don’t black me out, okay?
I’m sure MLB would like to do it, but whoever has the local markets and the national contract—Fox?—no doubt howled when MLB said they would start selling in markets they had already sold rights to.
My beef is more: Where’s the Mac support? Where’s the 1.2 meg feeds? Last season was better, with condensed games to boot.
yeah, absolutely. The whole blackout system is really irritating. I don’t have TV either, so when the Indians are on a national broadcast I either have to watch it after the fact or listen. But what’s especially unforgivable is when they black you out of a game that you have no alternative way of watching. That just don’t make sense, from anyone’s perspective.

I have tickets for tomorrow’s makeup game. It would be a cruel irony for it to rain again. Not that I am overly excited to see Bullington pitch or a game that has no promos running.
i’m drinking black and tan but everyone is gone. only 9 out

I was at the game last night. Lee wasn’t nearly as sharp as he has been and benefitted from several really good plays in the field — Asdrubal (twice), Carroll, Grady, and a nice throw by Gutierrez. A lot of hard-hit balls, including two by (ugh) Tony Pena. They were sitting on first pitch fastballs and hit many of them (at people); hence the low pitch count. Lee did a nice job of getting through and mixing in breaking pitches to survive, but he’s been much better. A tribute to him, really, that he got through 8 innings so well. I think Wedge was foolish to let him pitch the ninth — no point, really, and he clearly wasn’t on his best game. I guess the CG was important to someone, but a lot of people where I was sitting thought it was time to bring in someone else to finish up.
It was a really lively crowd, for a change; lots of kids and teenagers because of fireworks night. No cell phone people.
Choo looks great. Garko doesn’t.

Maybe it’s becuz we got a doubleheader today and Wedge wanted to save his BP?
Resident LGT beer kinda sewer
That may have been what he was thinking, but I think he just wanted Lee to get the CG, which is fair enough, but it was really a matter of time before some of the shots off Lee feel in. Either way, he’s got three or four additional guys out there (who he won’t use, ever, it appears, of course). He could have used someone he’s reluctant to use in a close game anyway (like Mastny or Meloan) to pitch an inning without depleting the pen.
