Indians sign 4 year deal in Columbus
Columubs Dispatch reports the Indians have signed a four year deal with the Clippers.
UPDATE: Although Mark Shapiro initially denied that the deal had been finalized earlier today, the Indians made it official with this press release at the end of the day. (Hat-tips to millionairesrow and Voltaire.) [Jay]

The Indians are denying this report

General Manager Mark Shapiro said today that a deal has not been reached.
“We haven’t agreed to anything,” he said. “It’s certainly something we have interest in and something we are exploring, but no deal is in place.”

you sure he’s not talking about the PTBNL from Milwaukee?

Color me confused. The Indians official site has an article saying it’s a done deal, it is an AP story, but still…

Why did I read the comments? Why? Why?

Yeah, I couldn’t help myself either. I’ll never get those 3 minutes of my life back.

Sort of the same macbre curiosity that makes you slow down to look at car accidents.
I couldn’t help myself either, and now I just feel dirty.

I think reading the Cleveland.com comments can pretty much negate and information or better understanding that you may have gleaned in the initial article. I think the reason why they have such an ill-informed and cynical tone is that reasonable civil people stopped participating long, long ago. I really wish they’ed eliminate them altogether. They serve no purpose but to broadcast the opinions of hate-filled, inebriated anonymous morons.
Not like here, where even when we’re inebriated, we can keep some form of civility.

Woah yeah baby. This is awesome, I don’t care how inevitable it was. It makes my insides glow.

After recently spending 70 dollars at a game I had free tickets for, I welcome my new live baseball experience.

I feel like Shapiro either denies or chooses not to comment on absolutely everything

and he still says that this has nothing to do with the B-3 bomber.

The Indians sent me an e-mail announcing this. i’d say that’s as official as it can get.

Updated the main entry, so we have it right on the front page. Thanks for keeping after it.

Does this mean we should put together an LGT “Let’s Go Former Bisons” night at the Hunt?
(If that’s the dumb shortened name everyone will be using for the ballpark.)
Pinch-hitting Carroll for Marte at this point in the season is inexcusable. I’ve had it with Wedge. He’s a younger, paler Dusty Baker.

This thread feels empty without Chuck making some sort of disparaging remark about Columbus.

Gotta be careful with that. I’m gonna be in CBus all of October – so I don’t wanna piss-off Bubba and Jethro before I get there.

It seems inconceivable now that the Indians ever had their AAA affilaite in Colorado Springs.
Indians into CBus, Mets slot into Buffalo from NOLA (?) – works out for everyone.
