Minor league shifts for Lake County, Bowling Green
Lake County will be moving from the South Atlantic League to the Midwest League in 2010. A Tampa Bay Rays affiliate in Columbus, GA set to move to Bowling Green, KY will also be a part of the Midwest League. The Indians apparently lobbied strongly for the change due to scheduling and travel difficulties.
As an aside, I wasn't able to find a link directly to the story, so I just linked the front page which had the story on it.

Aw, sh*t.
I’ll fix it. But I just want everyone to be aware that I made an embarrassing mistake.

Hey, they’re both remote Midwest college-towns. Easy mistake.

Bad news for mid-Atlantic fans — the Captains no longer will visit Lakewood NJ, Hagerstown MD or Delmarva MD.
The Sally League apparently will keep Lexington KY and Charleston WV, which doesn’t really make sense, either. The league’s other eight teams will remain in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
Midwest League cities …
Dayton, OH
Burlington, IA
Davenport, IA
Fort Wayne, IN
South Bend, IN
Geneva, IL
Peoria, IL
Lansing, MI
Midland, MI
Comstock Park, MI
Beloit, WI
… soon to be treated to visits from the Lake County Fighting Faustos.

Just out of curiosity, I looked … aside from Lake County itself, this move will have the Captains playing in five cities within 250 miles of Cleveland, five more within 425 miles, and the other five within 600. The current situation has them visiting two cities within 250 miles, seven more within 425 miles — and the other six are all between 600 and 700 miles away.

I’m not sure you’ll be able to understand a map of OUR country.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.

Both teams (Lake County and Bowling Green) relocated from Columbus, GA.
Will Columbus, GA get another chance?

Baseball America story – indicates that the move from Columbus to Lake County included a provision for a move to the Midwest League once a second team could be found.
