i was thinking the same thing. He looks so cheesy with that smile.
I always thought he was a class act.
Now Lenny Dykstra’s betting site, that’s class.
Did I just heard Underwood say that Laffey was going to be shut down for the rest of the year?
The best thing probably is to hit [Grady] 2nd -- Jay
According to head athletic trainer Lonnie Soloff, the Indians had an MRI performed on Laffey’s elbow in Cleveland on Tuesday, and no structural damage was found
by APV on Sep 2, 2008 7:32 PM EDT up reply actions
“[The inflammation] prevented him from fully extending his elbow and finishing his pitches,” Soloff said. “It’s in Aaron’s and the organization’s best interests to have him not pitch in September. This is a condition that will get better with rest and medication. The goal is to have Aaron at 100 percent by Spring Training.”

ditto. I support a healthy Laffey. I also support a Laffey who doesn’t earn Super 2 arb status.

Getting sick of Cabrera’s fielding.
Despite all of my best intentions, I have not, in fact, grown up to be a debaser.
Hammy: Hafner says he’s having his bets batting practices in 2 years, will be playing with Akron in the playoffs
cheaters…us that is. although unless Hafner slugs 1.000 for the playoffs I’m not believing he’s back.

if this is true, what does it say about his marriage?

i can just imagine how bad that AB looked.
Any reason why Crowe didn’t get the call? Too many OF’s? Were his numbers not good enough?
I like the cheers for Pierzynski getting HBP.
Despite all of my best intentions, I have not, in fact, grown up to be a debaser.
Yay! We hit Punkzynski! Can we hit him again later? Please?
Andy Marte is free at last! Now, if only he could hit a breaking ball...

(this is not a time machine)
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
Eh, I’m actually more optimistic than average. It’s just fun to be jaded and cynical after the fact.
Sorry. Wouldn’t want to wish the 80’s on you. You’ll find at least that I don’t tend to rip on individuals, nor have I ever advocated the firing of Wedge or Shapiro…for what that’s worth.
so, i watched much of the game last night in fast forward. anyone mind giving me a cliff’snotes on the lee/perecehszki incident?
AJ popped up and, apparently, got into a staring match with Lee as he ran towards first and then took a long lazy inside route back to the dugout, from where he yelled a few things at Cliff (not sure if then or later). Cliff, of course, did not remember in his post-game chat if he answered (“maybe I did”).
Supposedly, after the last out, Lee pointed to the Chicago dugout while hugging Shoppach, and several White Sox jawed back at him. Neither he nor Shoppach would comment on that.

In Cliff we trust.
MARTE! DROOBS! GUTZ! INNING FROM GOD!

As a Browns fan, I can say that it’s never too early to be prepared.
Andy Marte is free at last! Now, if only he could hit a breaking ball...
i think it’s safe to say we browns fans pretty much have the market cornered on that front.

i’ll love this start even more if they fixed something in particular with fausto that they can keep an eye on in the future.
I didn’t know “Tribe killer” was a common middle name in the Dominican

Choo drew a 5-pitch walk. Now Droobs.

Thanks, I just caught up. I want enough runs here that I am ok with anyone in our bullpen coming in the game.

The hits keep coming – Sizemore lines it up the middle to score Choo.

Ever consider replacing Underwood, woodsmeister?

Let’s trade Underwood, Manning and a Broadcaster To Be Named Later to the Dodgers for Vin Scully
by Logodaedalus on Sep 2, 2008 10:00 PM EDT up reply actions
The Dodgers would only do that if it were Scully’s contract year.

Because they’re painful to watch, or because he’s the second coming of the human rain delay?

anybody watching the hawk/dj feed? first of all, god help you. second. what do they say about garko? i have a feeling they think he’s dangerous.
Having watched many broadcasters on MLB TV, I can say without hesitation that Hawk and DJ are the insufferablest

How deep was that? Gamecast had it looking like AJ went deep.

Is Sowers worth getting up at 4am tomorrow to watch the game?

i’m staring at the schedule and thinking myself into this. again. DAMN we could have used those games against seattle.
by Gradyforpresident on Sep 3, 2008 12:46 AM EDT up reply actions
I was thinking the same thing. Grf. To indulge for a minute, suppose we win tomorrow and sweep KC. Additionally, suppose Chicago is swept by the Angels. Obviously not a likely combined scenario, but not out of the question. We’re talking about 5.5 back of Chicago. If Minnesota loses one of the next two to the Jays and two of three to the Tigers, that’s….7 back of them. With a couple retrospective wins against Seattle, all of a sudden we’re almost crawling up the White Sox’ [how do you make a possessive out of that?] collective butt, and 5 out of first. Okay, still not exactly prime striking distance this late, but hey. Momentum and remaining head to heads.
Ah well. Who’s to say missing by a little wouldn’t hurt the team psychologically next year, compared to missing by more but with a strong finish (cf. ’05 to ’06 and ’07 to ’08 vs. ’06 to ’07)? Silver lining, right?
