Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Indians apparently are looking for a new bullpen mentality. I'm not sure this falls on Isaac, but after 15 seasons the club wants a new voice in the pen.

Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.

another no brainer by the indians brass. the guy serverd 44 years for the indians and they fire him with no chance for re-assignment within the organization.
wedge and shapiro have to go people… my guess is they felt threatened by isaac somehow.

terrible management!

that was the first and only reply when i clicked on the link, and i had a reply all typed in and ready to go.

i shook my head, said to nobody around me “it’s not worth it”, and close the page.

Me too.

Pinch-hitting Carroll for Marte at this point in the season is inexcusable. I’ve had it with Wedge. He’s a younger, paler Dusty Baker.

Did you guys hear the news on our PLTBN?

by fleerdon on Sep 30, 2008 2:12 PM EDT reply actions

Good gravy. I got stuck reading those comments again. Can we institute a rule where a warning must be given to any cleveland.com link? Every time I click on one of those, I get stuck reading in the comments and lose IQ points.

I did, however, love the one idea of Dellucci at 3B. It makes too much sense not to happen!

by Fundamentals on Sep 30, 2008 2:29 PM EDT up reply actions

I’ve seen Dellucci’s throws from the outfield, they go exactly as far as the distance between 3b and 1b. This is a genius move.

by Toxicadam on Sep 30, 2008 3:33 PM EDT up reply actions

I really get mad when you guys link to a cleveland.com story and I read the comments. I can’t look away.

Sometimes I think there are a lot of people in Cleveland that would be pissed if we actually won anything. Then they couldn’t complain.

isn’t this what happened when the Red Sawx won it all?

Lack of reassignment …

Seems to me that this means that either Isaac did something a little more serious that they prefer not to disclose — providing something to the players perhaps? — or perhaps that they’ve been trying to get him to accept a reassignment for quite sometime, and he just wasn’t interested.

by Jay on Sep 30, 2008 5:00 PM EDT reply actions

If Wedge has only been trying to get rid of since he’s been here, maybe a precedent is set for Marte to get that much time? …. nahh wishful thinking

by talonk on Sep 30, 2008 5:23 PM EDT up reply actions

LUIS ISAAC DID NOTHING WRONG™

It’s like rearranging the deck chairs on the QE2.

by NickFantana on Oct 1, 2008 10:10 AM EDT reply actions

I think this is a move to clear the way for Scott Radinsky to replace Luis in the bullpen. Radinsky is ALWAYS lauded by the organization for righting players that are sent to him (Jen Lewis) or trying to put the finishing touches on young arms (I seem to remember a piece on him wanting to keep Stevens in AAA until he was “ready” for MLB) before they come to the parent club.

Who knows how the Isaac thing went down and why he wasn’t simply re-assigned, but my guess is that they decided that they wanted to get Radinsky into the Tribe bullpen and asked Luis to take another position. If he refused, he’s shown the door.
Maybe more was in play, but I think it’s a matter of getting Radinsky up here with all of the young arms that he’s helped develop over the last few years.

by The DiaTriber on Oct 1, 2008 10:33 AM EDT reply actions

this makes a ton of sense. radinsky, to my knowledge, doesn’t wear a kangol hat.

by Brick. on Oct 1, 2008 10:58 AM EDT up reply actions

But would the rigors of being a full time MLB bullpen coach delay the release of his punk bank Pully’s new EP Time-Insensitive Material? Although I suppose the title says it all.

Yeah, he had Verizon, so his cell phone worked on the ledge. (It is the network.)

Do you think Radinsky is the pitching coach in waiting for the Tribe?

by Roger Dorn on Oct 1, 2008 12:53 PM EDT up reply actions

Could be if Willis ever fell out of favor.
For now, a bullpen coach position would seem to suit his background and his previous experience with all of these young arms that look to be on the way for the Tribe to sort out for the bullpen.

by The DiaTriber on Oct 1, 2008 2:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Willis is a tremendous pitching coach and seems to work well with Wedge. I don’t think he’s going anywhere, anytime soon.
