Quentin breaks wrist, may be done
Evidently he was hurt in Monday's game at Cleveland, perhaps flailing helplessly at a Cliff Lee offering.

While I hate to see the White Sox succeed in any manner, I kinda liked Quentin. Though I also hear it may have happened when he slammed his bat down in frustration after a K, which is somewhat dumb.
Despite all of my best intentions, I have not, in fact, grown up to be a debaser.

“somewhat dumb” is somewhat kind, but I generally agree. Also, while I hate the White Sox, my dream scenario is still to see both Boston and NY fail to make the playoffs. This makes that seem less likely.

Yes, and this means Dustin Pedroia could win MVP. Quentin was leading, but if he misses significant time and/or the White Sox miss the playoffs, he won’t win. Neyer wrote today that Pedroia and Morneau (along with Quentin) are the favorites By the way, he also mentions that Grady is (probably) playing better than any of them, but of course he won’t win.

For those who didn’t read the link, Grady Sizemore leads the AL rankings by a very large margin. Here is what he writes about him:
But the league MVP should be Grady Sizemore (if not Cliff Lee). Sizemore has been everything a player can be – top hitter in the league and the best defensive center fielder. That’s a great player. the Indians are staging a furious, albeit futile, comeback, so perhaps he will get some votes.

Hello APV,
I too would love to see both Boston and NY fail to make the playoffs, but for that to happen, both Chicago and Minnesota have to make it. In other words, two of these teams will likely make the postseason, barring a monumental collapse by the Rays or the Angels (especially) and/or a monumental rise by the Yankees (unlikely):
Boston
Chicago (AL)
Minnesota
Either or both (which could probably happen since it’s likely the two “Soxs” won’t match up in the first round) of the Sox can go out in the first round, since at least one of them has to make it, but I’d prefer seeing neither Sox winning it all.
Certainly losing Quentin will not help the White Sox’s chances, and they could only acquire someone to help them down the stretch run, but not in the postseason (i.e. can’t be added to the postseason roster). They have to hope someone like Fields can pick up the slack, along with a resurgence or mini-resurgence from Konerko.
Otherwise, they may not even make the postseason, let alone going far in it.
Just my 2 cents.

I’ll be in Chicago the 3rd week of October; this reduces the chances that both teams will be playing then in the LCSs
