Q: Is this the most you’ve looked forward to a year, to prove something?

TH: You look forward to every year and you prepare for every year, but it just feels like I haven’t played for so long that I’m excited to get back out there and start playing again.

Q: Do you have to fight doubt?

TH: Not really. I feel my shoulder is healthy now and it’s not going to be an issue.

sure seems that way, huh?

i pine for the days of grand slams … the days of pronk being the best hitter in AL … and think that, second only to the uncertainty in the starting rotation, hafner’s recovery is an important variable in the tribe’s ability to compete this year. not the be-all-end-all, mind you, but …

also, i feel i should call attention to this comment on the PD website…

“Hope you are back you big muscular man you. I felt like an idiot for wearing your jersey to the game. I want to feel proud again like years past. Good luck to you fine sir.”

Yes, I too hope the big muscular man is back.

“It’s a night and day difference from this summer,” Hafner said. “This summer, I’d do a set of 10 [repetitions in lifting workouts], and it would take three to five minutes to recover. Now I can just hop in between with no rest at all. Just in general, it feels like it’s getting back to normal.”

hopefully lifting weights is like hitting a baseball. We’ll be fine.

I guess I didn’t realize he hasn’t actually swung a bat in several months. Well, at least he’s been drinking, so I don’t feel so uneasy now.

Giving his left elbow a workout.

Who drinks with their left hand? I’m even mostly left handed and I don’t do that.

As a lefty, I must say I’m ambidextrous in my alcoholic ways.

Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.

I’m lefthanded too. If the bartender puts the glass down on my left side, I use that hand. If the bartender puts the glass down on the right side, I go with the right hand.

What if you get a beer out of the fridge? What hand do you use then?

Right. Refrigerator door opens from the right side. Must use left hand to open so I don’t get tangled up.

by odradek on Jan 16, 2009 6:16 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Likewise—whichever hand is closer to the glass.

by jds16 on Jan 16, 2009 12:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Well, it would only make sense to drink Left Hand Brewery’s beers with your left hand.
