Cub Fans discuss Sizemore trade
Read it or don't read it, but know this. Their best offer is ARam for Sizemore. It takes more than a few comments before someone mentions that we have DeRosa. To which the reply is, include him in the trade too then.

I don’t think I can do this. I don’t want to.
Maybe I will.

They’re not even talking about it hardly. It’s clear that like only 4 guys are even considering that and it’s because they don’t know what they’re talking about.
Not worth it, people. Seriously, not worth it.

i wasn’t going to read it till you said this.

Agreed. That thread wasn’t offensive at all. In fact I think only one guy suggested A-Ram for Sizemore and he got shot down pretty quickly.
I see much much worse discussions in the forums of Tony’s site.

i see your point, although the discussion is brought up again later on in the thread.
the entire thread itself proves why i love LGT so much more than BCB. you all wouldn’t let half the crap said in that thread exist without being ridiculed.
although, not much to be gained getting into a ‘our blog is better than your blog’ shouting match. especially after what the indians have done to them this offseason.

Whoa. Like a bad dream: You’re back in tenth grade, surrounded by nimrods, and then suddenly stick appears and says: “What’s wrong with you people? Are you nuts? No way.”

yeah…i couldn’t stop myself. i had to say something. it was just too ridiculous to me. maybe i should go to sleep rather than troll around on bleed cubbie blue fanposts.

Silly Cubs fans… Don’t they realize Grady should be batting third?
That thread isn’t really that bad by internet standards… There are a few voices of reason, even.
It’s really just the use of the subject line that makes them appear clumsy and oafish.

It’s just idle speculation, nothing worth getting worked up about. It’s not like a poster came and set up shop here, demanding to know what it would take to deal Sizemore…
by Ryan on Jan 8, 2009 12:29 AM EST reply actions 1 recs
i guess i’m not really that worked up, it just seemed like a pretty dumb thread AND illustrated to me all the reasons why i’ve enjoyed LGT so much more than BCB since joining SBNation.

I am always shocked when I read other blogs; not all, but so, so many have unbelievably low standards for sentence structure, paragraph breaks, etc.
I just don’t get why people would type like that. It makes communicating intensely difficult.
The whole Cubs for Crowe bandwagon is really, really funny. I guess we’re not the only ones who overrate our prospects.

I have no qualms with capitalization. It’s one giant paragraph that I can’t handle, especially when it involves no capitals or, worse, no punctuation outside of ellipses (sp?).

That would take some nerve.

I’d trade him for one of their World Series titles.
Oh. Wait.

I’d rec this, but unlike CC I don’t want a WS handed to me on a platter.

I’d like to thank all of you — genuinely — for being a sensible group of people that doesn’t use subject lines. That was brutal even trying to read.

It is really jarring to see a post full of subject lines, isn’t it?
by Ryan on Jan 8, 2009 12:58 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
my single contribution to the thread included a subject line too! i had typed out the reply, and it just looked like it would be ignored without one…so i put one in after previewing. it was peer pressure!

Amongst all of the other reasons, it’s just easier not to spend any time typing up there.

Well, since this thread is about imaginary trades .. here is a fun one:

There’s some flawed logic in there but at the very least it’s decently thought-out and an entertaining read.
I disagree with this:
But likely it won’t happen at all. I understand why Ricciardi won’t make a move like this. How, as the public representative of the direction of his franchise, can he essentially make the public statement that "even though we’re pretty good, we just can’t compete in this division so we’re going to start over."
That’s exactly what I think he should do and I have to think most of Toronto’s fans would understand. It’s not like Billy Beane blowing up the team in a weak division.

Shapiro, you need Halladay. Halladay will do the team so much better than the team is being now. Without ROY, you wont ever do anything RIGHT as g-m. READ THIS SHAPIRO

This is one of those sarcastic memes we occasionally develop here, where new readers can’t always tell who’s kidding and who isn’t.
On the other hand, I think I’ll make READ THIS SHAPIRO the new site motto.

it really is hilarious. who came up with it first, Brad?

I’m pretty sure it was a Cleveland.com post that was heavily mocked here. It was sublime.

Yea I was aware of that. Just wondering who brought it to the community from cleveland.com
by Roger Dorn on Jan 8, 2009 11:15 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
No No. I looked it up. Brick made the post and Brad pointed out his favorite part

that was my recollection. i wanted to say. “i think that was a qoute i got a kick out of at cle.com”

a qoute is a small desert animal that survives by eating cactus needles.

If we trade Grady, won’t that free up money for Adam Dunn?

Perhaps we could work out a 3-way with the A’s for their entire farm system?

I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to work out a three-way on a farm for the past three years.
