O/T: Happy Beer Week, Cleveland!
Baseball in Cleveland is over with for 2009, and what better way to forget about what transpired than with the sport's companion beverage for those of the legal age: beer.
I will celebrate at home over the coming days, but will be in attendance at Brewzilla to close out the week's festivities.

I saw this in my Twitter feed and thought it was from THE_REAL_SHAQ, and it made me happy. This is still cool, though.

Suddenly, he can come up big and dominate a lineup come postseason.

Hmmmmm. Why? Better coaching? A better team in back of him so there is less pressure? Small sample size?
It burns me up to see him out on the mound in pinstripes(!), finally pitching superbly in post season (but I don’t want to see him injured).
If you believe it's just a game, you're also probably wondering why Santa keeps skipping your house every year.

Only a Cleveland fan could turn an off-topic celebration of beer into self-flagellation over a jackass having one good start in the ALCS.
At the very least, I will be celebrating Cleveland Beer Week with the Prix Fixe dinner at GLBC to celebrate my anniversary. And my pregnant wife can be my DD all week long. Unfortunately, I will not be at Brewzilla since DD tickets are barely cheaper than regular tickets.
Gonna try to hit the 2001 Bigfoot at the Brew Kettle next week, assuming the cold that is keeping me away from the IPA festival at Fatheads (right now) clears up.
I agree, $40 is pretty steep for 3 snacks. Other than that, this looks to be a very well thought-out event.

In his “defense,” he was not facing the Red Sox or Yankees lineups this time around.
I took note of the fact that he got the first batter out in all eight innings he pitched last night. How did he fare, I wondered, on first batters in the 2007 postseason?

Meh, I guess expressing my indignation over this won’t actually get me anywhere. I just can’t imagine doing this for any player under any circumstance, even if that player hadn’t bought ad space in the local newspaper thanking the players.
Opiate of the masses indeed.
He’s not the only one. I’m rooting for a career-ending injury every time he takes the hill, and in fact, in between starts as well.

Looking forward to Brewzilla as well. I cannot wait to drink good brews while taking in the Arcade.

Met the guys from Troegs Brewing Company in Harrisburg at the Winking Lizard in Coventry tonight, as they were hosting a pre-release of Mad Elf.. A beautiful ale with cherry, honey, and a different yeast than normal. Very potent, but doesn’t “taste” potent, if you can understand that.
Can’t wait for Brewzilla tomorrow.

oh my, it was a beautiful thing. based on the turnout, I’d have to imagine it’s a shoe-in to happen next year again.

highlights? only about half the vendors asked for your drink ticket. also, it gives you a chance to try beers you otherwise wouldn’t. for example, i’d never try Chimay Blue Grand Reserve on a whim at a bar or from the grocery store, but now I know I’d buy it after trying it out last night.
lowlight? i forgot to bid on the Sierra Nevada Bigfoot statue before the silent auction was over.
the turnout was great. i’d be surprised if it didn’t repeat next year.
