Baseball America League Top 20 Lists
Lists are on the bottom right hand side of the page.
Sally League: Knapp at #7, A. Perez at #18.
Carolina League: Chisenhall checks in at #5.
I would think Akron will have quite a showing from the Tribe, but with Huff and LaPorta graduating this year, I don't see much at Columbus.

C. Santana was number 6 on the final Prospect Hot Sheet which was a season summary.

I missed that. Worth noting that we probably won’t see De La Cruz or Hagadone due to their injuries, and I assume Abreu was omitted due to his injury.

Funny, with all the trades made and focus on Hagadone, Price, Knapp, Barnes, and Graham, how some people kind of forget the already in house guys like De La Cruz, Rondon, and down the ladder like TJ House.

Not a surprise, but BP’s AFL preview lists Carlos Rivero under ‘Disappointing’:
Rivero has long been one of the highest high-ceiling prospects in the Indians system, but he’s yet to produce anything consistently in the minors, including this year’s .242/.309/.344 line for Double-A Akron. Making things even worse, his big frame has added a few pounds as his body has matured, and his range is now limited at the position, while his arm has always been erratic. A position switch is likely in his future, so the bat has to pick up in a big way or he could quickly be off the radar.

Got the print edition today. Other Tribe players and some quick comments…
Arizona League:
13 – Jesus Brito
Kinston:
5 – Chisenhall – “Pure swing…no major holes…hits offspeed stuff well…most power is to pull side…avg to above avg power in the future…mixed reviews defensively…made progress during season.”
Akron:
4 – Santana – “Ideal profile for catcher with patience, power, and defensive ability…good pitch recognition…needs to show he can handle being pitched inside…one NL scout called his throwing arm the best in the league.”
11 – Rondon
18 – Weglarz
Columbus:
8 – LaPorta – “Well-above-average power potential…aggressive yet disciplined approach at the plate…below-avg speed and range to go with a fringy arm.”
9 – Rondon – “Live fastball…average change, slider is average at times but lacks consistency…some scouts wonder if his secondary pitches are enough for him to be a starter.”
15 – Brantley
17 – Carrasco
Also, in the team reports was this quote from an NL scout regarding Jordan Brown, offered without additional comment: “Jordan Brown has proven he has a special bat. Whether or not the power comes will take some time. But it’s up to the club to decipher if his defense is a true liability. Some major league clubs can carry lesser defensive players.”

Old school, baby!
Even though I probably don’t read it enough to get my money’s worth, it’s still nice to just page through it rather than pick and choose online…and if there is online subscription content, I can access it due to the subscription.

Thanks for posting this. Current Indians who are not on this list but were last year, off the top of my head, include De La Cruz and Donald. Interesting that the majority of Indians prospects are pretty close to the majors. Does BA rank based on proximity to majors?
I imagine this is a pretty good showing, having eight prospects show up out of the number listed (100 total? 140?). What is more impressive are guys who don’t show up on these lists but have a reasonable shot at being major leaguers, like De La Cruz, Donald, Gomez, Marson, Berger, Price, Hagadone, etc. Add in Alex White and its a pretty impressive system, albeit a little light on lower-level position guys.

not as i understand it – they generally focus on ceiling.

It’s over five leagues, so I suppose it’s 10 (didn’t include the two from Lake County referenced earlier) out of 100 in those leagues…but that only covers the teams in those leagues. It’s not an organizational list. So I don’t know how to quantify it.
BA usually ranks players based on projected value, so as Brick says, they’ll lean towards higher-ceiling guys.
