it is a fact that the dodgers are in the playoffs due to a set batting order.

wait, who are you saying this to?

When Torre handed over the line-up card before the game, having Thome penciled in to pinch hit for Belisario in the 6th seemed like a no brainer or at least a decent enough opportunity to squeeze him in (despite sub .400 SLG). Just knowing Belisario would be pitching in the 6th is prescient enough.

How are the Rockies winning, batting their 13th highest paid player fourth in the lineup?

Torre really excels in these types of situations

If Orlando Hudson has a good NLDS, he can play in the NLCS.

Wow – the disinterest is palpable.

If anyone else has been frustrated with the announcers watching the playoff so far I highly recommend checking out Posnanski today

If you thought the TV announcing was bad, you should have heard Chris Berman & David Wells doing the national radio feed. You couldn’t really call it a play-by-play it was more of a rambling conversation with scoring updates. Berman even broke out his horrific “back, back, back…” thing.

Berman knows that call is going to get him into Cooperstown.

Meh…finally get to watch some baseball on the and I get this. At last a pitcher almost costing his team a run by merely jogging in on a sac fly is vaguely interesting

Was it just my TV or was the sound absolutely abominable during the LA game last night?

I went to this game last night. I’m a lifelong Tribe fan but I live in LA now so if I want to see baseball, this is what I’ve got.
I have to admit Dodger Stadium has its charms, and the playoff atmosphere was a lot of fun. I wasn’t emotionally invested like I would be for an Indians game, but still, I enjoyed seeing LGFT guys like Manny, Thome, Belliard and Blake playing in October again.

Bucknor is a joke. But a funny joke, when his awful calls go against Boston!
by cleveland teamer on Oct 8, 2009 11:00 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Seriously – how can MLB justify allowing Bucknor anywhere near a postseason game?

The thing I hate about watching the Red Sox in the playoffs is that I’m satisfied if they lose or disappointed if they win. Either way, it isn’t a great pay-off, but I watch anyway…

I probably could have chosen a better word, but I’d probably have been satisfied not paying attention to the Red Sox post-season wins as well. My point being, by watching I either finish down if they win or even if they lose.

Again, I wonder why Bucknor is even allowed into major league stadiums with a ticket during postseason.

I mean seriously. Anyone with even a passing interest knows what a fraud this guy is, yet somehow … here he is.

Just a random, passing thought … I don’t really care that the playoffs are only on cable, or that they’re only on one game at a time … except … I do think each individual game should be on local broadcast television in the two teams’ home markets.

Just got some terrible news. My dad’s season ticket group is disbanding. After 15 or so years of tickets behind the Indians dugout about 15 rows up. We got about 5 games a year in those seats, usually more. I’ve probably seen 100 games in those seats, including the 97 homerun derby and a 97 World Series game.
Damn.
by Ryan Kelsey on Oct 8, 2009 11:58 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
That’s a bummer. My sincere condolences.
My ticket group goes back to the old stadium. Every time I get an e-mail from the guy who runs the group I have to take a deep breath before I open it. I’m pretty sure our group will fall apart.

Abreu, Hunter and Guerrero on base, Rivera at the plate. That’s a whole lot of dollars in play for the Angels.

We all could’ve commented on Franciscoster’s catch in LF last night.
