I am shocked shocked that Omar went to the highest bidder and our hated rival.

Highest bidder, yes. But “hated rival”?

No kidding, it wasn’t the Twins or Yankees.

Yankees aside, do we need to rehash the Twins or White Sox thing?

Yankees are hated but not rivals. Teams in the Central (KC excepted?) are rivals, hence hated.

The Yankees need to win a few big games against us before it can be considered a rivarly.

I consider the Yankees a rival. I don’t consider the Tigers much of a rival. Limiting it to division, while meeting the strictest definition of the word, misses the point.

can it be considered a rivalry if we see them as a rival but they don’t see us as one?

Sorry Jay, been offline for almost two weeks. I won’t get into the sad details right now. I would like to a PSA in the next few days if I am allowed to.

From Castrovince:
The Indians did express interest in Vizquel, but they were told by his agent, Adam Katz, that the White Sox were a higher priority on his list. It had been speculated that the 42-year-old Vizquel, perhaps seeking future support for his Hall of Fame candidacy, wanted to land with a “high-profile” club, and the Sox are obviously in a bigger market than the Tribe.

Hahaha. That’s hilarious. So 250 ABs are supposed to help his HOF candidacy?

I think Omar is too smart to believe that, but maybe he figures it will help to expose himself to writers in a new market.

I’m sad. He was such a power-house from the right-hand side of the plate. He really would have been the perfect platoon partner for Luis Valbuena, a 23-year old middle infielder who needs a strict platoon partner on a team with no intention of contending in 2010.

why would any FA want to play for us? other than if we over pay.

Not sure if you mean it this way, but having to overpay just to land a free agent is not just a Cleveland-specific condition.
The Yankees, the team for which every player supposedly would love to play, seem to pay a “free agent premium” to anybody who’ll come to New York. Isn’t it supposed to work the other way— aren’t free agents supposed to take less to get the “privilege” to play for a perennial winner?
The point — most free agents don’t give a damn who the team is that’s offering the contract. And maybe that’s your entire point?

Stupid Cheapiro. Dolan ruined this team. Omar would have been the perfect player-manager. He’s an elite talent and teacher and would be a perfect fit to help develop these infielders into average major leaguers. This is proof they only care about money-not winning.

The White Sox also appear to be taking another run at renowned nemesis Coco Crisp.
