Grady is (nearly) 100%
I didn't see any mention of this all day, so I figured I'd throw it up here.
WFNY expands upon a golden nugget by Pluto about the status of Sizemore. Pluto says "nearly 100%" and Scott at WFNY says "reportedly 100%", but the jist is that things look good.

If he only had surgery in July, he would have been 150% by now.

People are discussing it in The Hero Factory thread.

We’ll see. Hopfully he’ll OPS better than Kenny Lofton did at age 27 (.948) and put up a better RTZ (7.4, an off year)

Because that actually matters, him being better than Kenny Lofton at any given point in each of their careers?

In the Great Scheme of Things, no, it doesn’t matter. But right now, today, Grady Sizemore is our best player. Back in the day, Kenny was no better than our fourth best player. I’m just trying to guage where this team stacks up as a competitive baseball club.
If Grady can’t deliver, chances are we’re in for another very, very bad year.

.948! I had forgotten that he ever had a year like that. His best year with the bat by a mile. He certainly was not our fourth best player or worse that year.

A question: Is a .950 OPS from 1996 the same as a .950 OPS from 2010?
Or are we talking about two distinct eras in the game that aren’t directly comparable?
I think Grady will be fine, but I still think we’ll have a pretty bad year.

1994, actually, so Kenny only played in 112 games that year. Not only did Lofton never match that performance, he never even came close. Only once did he even finish within 100 points of a 948 OPS (144 OPS+).
To say Grady has to outperform Kenny’s once-in-a-career offensive season seems a bit silly. Lofton was the second-best hitter on the team in 1994, with more XBH than Manny Ramirez. Lucky for Grady and the boys that they have to compete against the 2010-11 Tigers and Twins, not the 1994-95 Indians.

In that specific year, Lofton arguably was our best player, and unquestionably he was one of our best two players. Belle had 24 more home runs; Lofton had 7 more triples, 50 more stolen bases and a Gold Glove in CF. Nobody else was close to those two. That year.

Only partially correct. We hafta compete against the Yankees, Red Sox and Angels too. I wanta WS Championship, not just a play-off berth.

I think the point is about getting to the playoffs, because it’s pretty well documented that once there, anything can happen.

It’s true that the play-offs are a crap shoot. But for some teams – Yankees, BoSox, Phillies, Dodgers – the point is six or eight. For others – Twins, Rockies – the point is ten or four. I want us to be in the former group, not the latter.

Rec for craps reference when talking about a crap-shoot.
