More Shake Up: New Pacific Rim Scouts

Hoynes chimes in from the GM meetings: The Indians fired the two scouts responsible for the Tribe's Pacific Rim scouting. One new full-time scout has been hired and will live in Japan. Two more part-time scouts will cover Taiwan and S. Korea.

Given that Kaz Tadano is the most (and only) significant acquisition I can think of out of our Pacific Rim scouting, I certainly have no objection. I know there are a few guys in the pipeline (CC Lee, Chun-Hsiu Chen), but none worth talking much about yet.

The Indians aren’t in any kind of roster crunch, that is for sure. There are some guys the Indians need to make a decision on to decide whether it is time to cut ties, or at least expose themselves to the possibility of losing them, but that is about it. Everyone of real significance who needs to get added will. There will be a few guys who don’t get rostered who might be targeted in the Rule 5, but nothing to cry about. I would echo a previous commenter who wondered whether this might be a year the Indians target someone. It has been awhile, and there’s room on the roster.

I’m sure one of us will get something more formal up during the week.
