Dunn Deal
Damn. The best discussion on this blog is now over. Adam Dunn has apparently taken a deal with the Nationals.

Yeah, I realized shortly after posting that You were the wrong “mj.” You owe me nothing as well for having such a similar screen name.

Just for getting us mj’s confused, you’ll get a double dose of nothin’. I thought about giving you half of nothing, but realized it might be more than double nothin’. So take it and don’t come back round these parts again!
Still the local "Barfield Bounces Back Believer" and confident that there's still a lot of Pronk in Hafner. Oh, and for all the love of Cliffy, there's still a Sleepy Kitten inside.
Thank God Rodriguez confessed to steroids use, or we’d probably just have to close the site for couple weeks.

Woo hoo! We officially aren’t getting him and people can officially stop begging!
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
I already have a fanpost ready to go for mid-mayish
I refuse to ever root for a team that routinely does the MVP chant for opposing players.

quick read would seem to suggest the Phils are the losers here

The starting pitchers when these guys are fielding are the losers here.

Hello Adam,
I figured that would be more the going rate for him, making it virtually likely we would NOT get him. Let’s face it – who would we rather have, Dunn or Wood? I’ll take Wood, since the bullpen was a much more pressing issue than our OF, even though our OF is far from perfect.
Just my 2 cents.
The "cream of the crop" doesn't always rise to the top.
I’d rather have Dunn, but I can’t fault the front office for jumping on Wood.
That, and Hindsight is 20/20.

Well, now they have Dunn and Kearns. It they can sign Griffey, they’re in the playoffs for sure.

Bowden’s having acid flashbacks to 2003 or something

It’s the “Cincinnati” reunion in Washington between two of their most publicized prospects (though Kearns never really panned out and Dunn’s BA ability fell off as he reached the majors – he was projected to be a “complete” hitter – BA along with power at one time. In fact, he was even a decent OFer at one time too, though that is certainly NOT the case now).
Just my 2 cents.
The "cream of the crop" doesn't always rise to the top.
Unless he left, don’t forget that the Nationals already have Wily Mo Pena, so their “young” OF may already be set, so Griffey might not quite “fit” in (being that he’s not as young as those guys). It’s a total Cincinnati reunion (in the OF, at least. :-)
Just my 2 cents.
The "cream of the crop" doesn't always rise to the top.
This is good news because a) Dunn is harmless in DC and b) now I have one more reason to go to Nats games.

With this signing, they might be upgraded to midge status.

That’s what I was thinking. Bad long-term for the Nats. Good short-term for me.

I actually visited the Nats SBN site. The front page post was confused about what to do with their OF logjam. Seriously, he was wondering how they’d split time between Willingham and Dunn
So who’s up for going to a Nat’s game?

Really? It couldn’t be easier.

Haven’t been to DC since middle school, so it might take awhile.

READ THIS SHAPIRO.
Nick Johnson wants to be traded.
The #1 knock on Johnson, deservedly so, is that he misses a lot of time. But this is a team that can afford to have a 1B/DH miss time I would think. And when healthy he should be well above Ryan Garko’s capable production.
There’s also the benefit of having a guy named Johnson on the team. Purely prurient.
