Our pal Sal gets his Rox off
Unfortunately I could not find an actual link to a story.
But I saw that our buddy, Mr. Fasano signed a minor league deal with the Rockies with an invite to spring training. More than likely he is the emergency guy for them in AAA this season.
All the delicious Fasano catching Wood game thread jokes are now officially kaput.

For those among us who can’t get enough Fasano, the Rockies train at in Tucson, AZ, the former Spring Training site of the Indians.
The Indians will play the Rockies at this site on Sunday, March 22nd.
Indians spring training games in Tucson: Mar 22 (Colorado) and Mar 28 (Arizona). I’m attempting to plan a Spring Training trip around these dates, but I swear it’s not all because of Sal. My sister tells me that Tucson Electric Park is very close to an In-n-Out Burger.
I will be at both Tucson games (which might be reason to stay away…). The Rockies train at Hi Corbett Field (the actual stadium where the Indians used to train), unless there’s been a change I’m not aware of. TE Park is the ST home of the D-backs (and was also the home of the White Sox until this year). In-n-Out is fairly close to both, but especially Hi Corbett.

If I still have a job on March 1st (it’s 50-50), I’’ll be down there and we can toast the new season. I primarily work in residential construction. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there’s some talk about a “bubble” that has “burst”.
Sounds crazy, I know.
Oof…. that has to be among the worst lines of work to be in this year. I suppose if you don’t have a job, at least you’d have plenty of company…
Here’s hoping you make it out here.

Thanks. Yeah, it’s a bad one. I’m holding out hope that Adam Dunn buys my boss’ house.
The worst that’ll happen is that I’ll miss ST. Gotta keep it in perspective. Many people actually have it bad.
Well, if that’s really the worst that will happen, then I guess it’s not too bad.

Mapquest says that Goodyear is about a 2 hours drive along I-10 from Tucson, and about 30 minutes from Phoenix. Does that sound about right?
In my limited experience, I’ve found Tucson to be a more appealing destination than Phoenix, and so I’m planning my trip around the Tucson dates. I’m prejudiced to think of Phoenix as a hellhole. I don’t golf. I like the Tucson big/little city vibe a lot, and of course there’s the college element. I saw a couple of unidentifiable players with their families at the Desert Museum.
At any rate, I’m pumped for Spring Training—-whether or not I am able to see it.
Phoenix is around an hour and a half from Tucson with semi-favorable traffic, so if the Phoenix to Goodyear figure is right then 2 hrs should be on target, though I’d probably allow a bit more to be safe. I’ll be heading up there for at least a couple games on the 15th and 16th in addition to seeing the ones in Tucson.
I haven’t really spent any time in Phoenix, apart from short trips to specific destinations, but my sense is the same as yours. Tucson has its charms in the downtown and university areas. If you get more than a few miles from the center though it’s pretty much a giant suburb. I definitely have a big city bias though — a lot of people really like it here. And when you get far enough out to be in the desert, it’s quite beautiful. I love the desert museum, and the Saguaro National Parks, for example…
Anyway, hope you make it down, and hope we can ring in the Tribe’s first world championship season in 61 years.
