Minor League Notebook Indians Articles

AL Central Top 10 Prospects The Indians have two guys on the list - Matt LaPorta coming in at #3 and Carlos Santana at #8. From the Eastern League Preview Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians) Prospect to Watch in 2009 Nick Weglarz, a lefthanded hitter with sock in the mold of fellow Canadians Justin Morneau and Joey Votto, will debut in AA as a 21-year-old, patrolling LF for the Aeros. Weglarz is a classic power/patience offensive player, with OBPs over .390 in his two A-ball campaigns, and light-tower HR potential if he can iron out some mechanical wrinkles in his swing. He played well for Canada in the 2008 Olympics, homering twice vs. Cuba. Weglarz is a big guy, around 250 lb, so he may wind up best suited for DH. Other players to watch Carlos Santana (C), Beau Mills (1B) I am part of the website, but I don't write all of the articles. If the mods have an issue with this post, please email me.
