Thought these were supposed to be on the back of your toliet.

I believe the ideal response would be a photo of your john with attendant magazine and beer, captioned “FULLY OPERATIONAL.”

My mail came and no Annual. I had to settle for buying the BP annual instead.

I’ve seen so little. I assume you’re kidding, but I hope you realize that I’m salivating at reading the Antonetti stuff. Or the interview with Shoppach. Or Joe Pos’ piece on Herb Score.
Hell, the cover has the word “championship.”
Since I have no other place to put this, of all the guys in the BP book, including lineouts, there was only one I don’t know. Who is Josh Tomlin? Can Adam or any of the other prospect gurus enlighten me on this? BP has him as old and “without overwhelming stuff,” but still felt he warranted a full-fledged entry over Bryson, Lofgren, Martin, and none other than Juan Rincon.

Also, Mastny has a two-sentence lineout. The first sentence:
The 6’6" Tom “Nasty” Mastny is the only big-leaguer to be born in Indonesia (where his parents were vacationing).
Boy, who knew? You’d think that sort of thing would come up every now and then.

Tomlin has been used as a swing starter/reliever the past two years. He’s old for his level (last year he spent most of the year at A+ Kinston as a 23-year old), but has put up very good K/BB numbers. In 102+ innings last year, he struck out 109 guys and walked just 16. Very good numbers, hard to say much about him till he gets to at least AA (which he will be this year).
Thanks, I’ll keep an eye on him.

Tony had a nice piece on him last July:
“He is a converted shortstop, and has a lot of athleticism,” said Atkins. “When a pitcher is extremely athletic the ability to make adjustments is quicker. We have seen the depth of his slider improve much faster than most of our pitchers. We have seen his command improve much faster than most of our pitchers. I think that is a tribute to his athleticism and fortitude obviously. He has been up to 92 MPH this year, and we did not expect that.”
Thanks, that entry was way more than I’ll ever remember. I did notice, though, that he’s either a Top 25 prospect or above 100, according to Tony.

I’m too cheap to pay the $5 shipping fee, has anyone posted a list of where this will be available in the Cleveland area?

not home yet. but i didn’t get a fed ex or ups delivery. yes, i called my doorman to see. if it was a small package via usps, i still have a chance.
I believe it. The question I’m going to have: is this something my dad/uncle etc would want to read. People who follow the team on an almost daily basis, and go maybe 4-5 guys past the 25 man roster. People who don’t want advance stats, and uh, wouldn’t appreciate Andrew’s photo essays.
There is no reason it has to be age-appropriate for them too, but I’ll be curious.
mine would do the same thing. she bought out border’s entire stock when i was in a magazine once – and i wasn’t the author, just the subject.
you were the subject of a magazine article? did you just gloss over that?

co-subject, technically. we’re not talking Time Magazine here – just a little piece in Runner’s World a few years back.
At this point, they might be a more respectable publication than Time.

Isn’t Priority Mail supposed to be two day service? Mine still hasn’t come…

Update: I just got an email from MSP saying that they shipped my order today. I won’t get it until Monday or Tuesday at the earliest. I ordered it several days before the 16th, so I’m not sure what happened…
"I've never complained about it. I'm thankful to have a jersey." Mark DeRosa, 22 Aug 2007
What happened, evidently, is that they implied they could ship all pre-orders on the 16th, when obviously that was not the case.
I have no control over this, but you have my apologies nonetheless.
Christopher Columbus was sailing about one day when he smashed into a giant piece of land. When he got out of his ship, there were a couple guys named Jamey and Casey running around drinking it. It then became known as “India Ale”.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.

It’s a Samuel Smith’s India Ale. They apparently refuse to diminish their brand by designating it as “pale”, but nevertheless it is an IPA. Sam Smith makes some pretty good beers (albeit a bit snooty).
/takes excuse to talk about beer/
i’ve recently become enamored with Founders. The breakfast stout and the double trouble are A+ beers.
despite living in Michigan for 7 years, I don’t think I have much experience with Founders. I think I’ve had the pale ale and the dirty bastard, but only once.
While we’re talking about beers, I had Victory Hop Wallop the other night on a first date. 8.5% ABV. I had five of them. The night did not end well, and I had to conduct an interview at work the next day.

Actually the date went very well. It was just the Metro ride, arrival at home, and next day at work that didn’t go well.

JAY!!! READ THIS!
Can you please reply with an address so that I can mail a check to order this book. I prefer doing my purchasing the old fashioned way. I’m assuming to add $5 for shipping
Thanx, Larz
Okay, I looked into this, and MSP will accept orders by check.
Send $17.99 to:
Maple Street Press LLC
155 Webster St., Suite B
Hanover, MA 02339
On the check or in an accompanying letter, please specify:
- You want the Indians Annual.
- The mailing address where it should be sent.
- Your e-mail and phone number, so they can contact you.
$17.99 covers shipping to the lower 48 only. Anyone who wants this outside the U.S., shoot me an e-mail, we’ll work something out.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Damn, you guys are really making me sad. I’m honored though somewhat daunted that expectations are so high. I wish some of you lived in Philly, you could just come get one from me.
I’d drive up if I had a car. Be a good excuse to get to Philly too.

I’m supposed to go to Boulder to see some friends. I’m trying to wait for the mail to get here. But sometimes our mail doesn’t show up until around 6.
On a related note, I have no idea what our mailman does all day.

Just read that last week, and am now SUPER pumped/nervous for the movie

After finishing it, it won’t take much for the movie to be better. Fantastic plot, hit-or-miss characterization, terrible pacing.

Disagree. I loved the book. The only thing that got distracting was the “Curse of the Black Freighter” stuff.

Yeah, that part never really resonated with me. It was a big reach and didn’t really get anywhere.
I believe they are releasing a Freighter DVD as tie-in to the movie.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Yeah and, like Volt mentioned, as part of a director’s cut DVD. With Gerard Butler as the voice of the main character.
