This is from the article Evan linked but I figured it deserves it’s own ’shot. Plus, video!

opening day can’t get here soon enough.

Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.

I hope Miller’s locker is right in between Wood and Lee

by APV on Feb 22, 2009 10:42 AM EST reply actions

It appears to be between Rondon’s and LaPorta’s right now.

by fleerdon on Feb 22, 2009 11:09 AM EST up reply actions

Don’t others need Lee’s guidance more?

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

by Jay on Feb 22, 2009 11:42 AM EST up reply actions

I see few pitchers who could have as much of a positive impact as getting 100% of Miller’s value.

by APV on Feb 22, 2009 11:45 AM EST up reply actions

Reyes?

Pavano?

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

by Jay on Feb 22, 2009 11:46 AM EST up reply actions

Reyes is possibility. Pavano….ugh…I’m just going to refrain talking about him anymore till he starts pitching. It just seems that Miller has 99th percentile “stuff”, which few, if any, of our other unrealized pitchers have.

by APV on Feb 22, 2009 11:53 AM EST up reply actions

But his potential contribution is limited in the pen.

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

by Jay on Feb 22, 2009 2:04 PM EST up reply actions

How you think his stuff compares to Jason Davis?

by mauichuck on Feb 22, 2009 3:40 PM EST up reply actions

Miller has been so exciting all of these years because unlike a typical 99 percentile hard-thrower, he’s been able to command his pitches.

Miller, like Wood, strikes players out on a regular basis. Jason Davis, despite throwing 96 mph, couldn’t manage this even after a move to relief.

Davis apparently had a freakish inability to deceive hitters.

Miller’s stuff brings universal attention. Jason Davis’ was a local legend. That’s all that I know.

Looking back, Davis’ failures seem to make sense, though I still don’t understand what happened to Fernando Cabrera.

If just one of those guys can give us sub 4.00 ERA and 170-190 innings, we’re in business.

I would like this.

Though I look right at home, I still feel like an exile

Yeah man, I tell ya what, man. That dang ol’ Internet, man. You just go on there and point and click. Talk about W-W-dot-W-com. An’ lotsa nekkid chicks on there, man. Click. Click. Click. Click. Click. It’s real easy, man.

by FredOx on Feb 23, 2009 3:06 PM EST up reply actions

does anyone else think that miller bears a passing resemblance to flea of the RHCP?

by Cap'n Snegiryov on Feb 22, 2009 5:34 PM EST reply actions

Just made the mistake of watching Hoynes’s interview of Huff. Huff provides some info, but does Hoynes prepare for these things at all? Does he listen to the responses of the person he is interviewing? It’s like watching one of those SNL “Wake up, Wakefield” sketches.

by APV on Feb 24, 2009 8:10 AM EST reply actions

Wow, just watched it. “Tell me now, are you a pitcher? Oh you are? Interesting. Do you throw baseballs with your left or right hand now?”

I was hoping to see the Huff-stache. He’s much better looking and less intimidating than I had expected.

Love the way he talks about pitching.

Wait that was real?

He’s certainly better looking in that video than he is in the Annual.

I love how he insists on thinking of himself as a pitch-to-contact guy. What that means is that his great K rates are just a function of his being well above the competition all-around.

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

he comes off like a guy who understands what pitching is all about

by APV on Feb 24, 2009 1:42 PM EST up reply actions

My thoughts exactly.
