"The last thing I want to hear is that we have great players in the Minor Leagues. I don't care. How about some great ones, right now, winning a ballgame?"

I live in Des Moines, so I’ve actually been to his museum in Van Meter. He actually charges $5 for an autograph when he comes to town.
He used to hand those things out for free for many many years (I think I got two signed baseballs by him when I was 7 or so years old). $5 isn’t that big of a deal when compared to what others charge, I guess.
wait, des moines? both my roommates from des moines and i’ve spent significant time there
So 2009.

I read that and laughed out loud. Cantankerous and true – if I were 90 years old I wouldn’t give a bleep about prospects that matter.
Also, got the first shiver of real reaction to actual play. Stats! In the intrasquad game today:
Rondon: 1-2-3 first (and only)
Huff: scoreless first
Shoppach, Crowe and Barfield go deep
Valbuena and Mills triple
Garko catches his first live ball in LF!
Let the playing begin…
I can’t tell if you’re calling me out on “misappropriating this” or if you’re remarking that it’s interesting the team writer would start the conversation.

not calling you out, just pointing out that Castrovince seems to get most of this stories directly from the team
I too found it interesting, but he allows that the chance is pretty remote.
As with the relievers, there’s little reason to make a final decision to go with the rookie in spring training, when they can always make that decision later in the season, even in April or May, after they see how Crowe looks in Columbus, let him get a little warmed up. As they did with Michaels and Francisco a year ago.
I mean, you could write this exact same story about Masa and Meloan.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
You think they want LaPorta to take Garko’s spot on the bench?
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Let LaPorta spend a few months (2-3) at least in Columbus – better he get everyday ABs rather than ride the bench or bypass AAA and skip to the MLs, especially after the whirlwind end to the 2008 season.
Just my 2 cents.
The "cream of the crop" doesn't always rise to the top.
Never did get that humor chip installed, did you?
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I view it more as a motivator for Looch. Can you see any scenario where they will eat 4 million before the season even starts?
I guess they could work out a trade, but they’d have to still eat most of the salad.
I think their view — the smart view — is that they’ve already eaten it.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
So, I’m going to piss in feller’s icecream with some observations of Adam’s Anual Top 20 Article?
-david huff is a switch hitter?
-i like NET as much as Progress Score
-Carlos Santana’s Net is awesome (122), Brantley’s mind boggling (168) and scott lewis’ would be shocking without last week’s discussion (+167)
-best guess has miller getting a few starts at the end of the year?
-Surprised Rondon’s Progress Score isn’t a bit higher (4.3)
-Becoming sold on Brantleyforleadoffman
-Kind of would have liked to see Adam maybe list some player comps as part of this
-I wish i had current indians’ old numbers handy to compare
-loved this article
I’m with you on the wildly impressed by Net score thing. It’s awesome and I was wildly impressed by Brantley’s score, also like you.

Thanks, guys. I’m going to do an “official” post about both stats within the next week.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
I’m pre-emptively wildly impressed with your “official” post.
