Welcome Yahoo! Users
Starting today, Yahoo Sports audiences have one-click access to SB Nation blogs, including Let's Go Tribe. The Indians page on Yahoo Sports now has a Let's Go Tribe portal, including direct links to the latest front page stories on LGT.
So if everything's working correctly, many of you reading this post are first-time visitors to this site. To those that are, welcome: you've found the most vibrant community of Indians fans on the Internet. If you're looking for excellent Indians analysis, you've found just the place. If you're looking for a great place to talk Tribe, you've also found the perfect spot.
But before you dive in, I'd suggest you do a couple things first.
1. Please read the Ground Rules. Any successful community, whether it be in real life or on the Internet, needs to abide by basic rules in order to function, and Let's Go Tribe is no different. We take these rules seriously, and moderate violations of them quickly and consistently.
2. Don't post right away. No, I'm not crazy. Let's Go Tribe is a bit different than other places you might have been in the past, and while I think that's a very good thing, you'll enjoy yourself much better if you start by reading archived posts and user comments. Once you've gotten a feel for the atmosphere here, then by all means start commenting in reponse to front page stories, game threads, FanPosts (user-created stories), or FanShots (links, pictures, video).
If you have any questions about this site, including navigation issues, the Ground Rules, or anything else, please feel free to contact me (Ryan), Jay, Adam, or Andrew; our contact information can be found at the bottom of the page.

I like how Hey Jaysie is going to be one of the first things they see.

So this is really good for SB nation, right? Recognized by Yahoo, and it’s writers are getting recruited to other mainstream publications – SB has done pretty well for itself.
I’ve heard that Yahoo! Sports gets more impressions than ESPN.com. Is that true?

I heart Yahoo! Sports. Not really for any of their analysis, but when I want a quick glance at a box score or standings in any sport, their site is always one of the most updated and cleanest looking around. I also like how easy it is to get split stats from them.

Really? I don’t think I’ve ever used Yahoo Sports, other than if they have an interesting article on my Yahoo homepage that I look at. I always use espn.com for box scores and standings. I like how they’ve updated it so on the top of their homepage you can easily click the box score for any game that day. But I’ll have to check out Yahoo to see if it’s better.

Yeah, its mainly because its cleaner. ESPN has so much junk going on that even on a decent connection and computer it takes a minute to load. It is also so cluttered. I will say I haven’t done much with ESPN since they’ve changed their look.
The new ESPN look is corn-fusing. (Maybe I was used to the old layout.)

as I said recently, i think ever re-design of espn.com has made it worse. the most recent one is especially egregious.
between MLBN and…. the rest of the internet…. ESPN is becoming obsolete for baseball fans. Once Peter Gammons retires, they may as well, just ditch covering baseball at all and focus on all they care about – the NFL, Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods.
What about Rob Neyer? I read him every day.

That’s our understanding, that Yahoo! Sports is in fact the most heavily trafficked sports site on the Internet.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
I find that really surprising/impressive. I wonder how much of that is due to layout, how much is due to content, and how much is residual traffic from people already being on Yahoo! (for fantasy sports, for instance — the main, er.. only reason I ever navigate to Yahoo!).
Why hasn’t Google gotten into the fantasy game yet?
by JulioBernazard on Feb 25, 2009 2:00 PM EST up reply actions
fantasy football through yahoo is light years better than espn. i bet this drives a lot of the traffic, because its a multiple daily check during football season
Right, I’ll bet much of the traffic is from fantasty sports. Also through links from the Yahoo homepages, since many people use their email. As I said, that’s the only way I’ve ever used Yahoo sports.

Did a baseball draft through CBS Sportsline, and it was a horrid experience. I only use Y! for fantasy sports of any kind.

That’s a lot of pressure for a spring training gamethread.

In the words of Max Fischer, “I’m no elitist.” But I can’t get really excited about this.
I fear for the near future of LGT and expect the ground rules to get trampled on a bit.

You’re not going to like next week’s announcement that we are merging with Cleveland.com.

Good luck with that. I’m assuming the four of you plan on doing more policing?
Don’t get me wrong, I congratulate you guys on your success in creating one of the best SBN blogs out there. This is your baby, and it’s healthy growth is due in large part to the hard work you and Jay have done fostering intelligent—if not witty—discourse. I read the blog for a year before I ever considered joining and posting. I just think that I preferred the quality of posts over the forthcoming quantity.

I’m thinking lots of subject line use at the very least.

That’s been an ongoing fear since the first big flood of new traffic happened with the Crisp/Marte trade. We already have 10x the traffic that we had at that point, and while the community is larger and not exactly the same, it’s still a pretty cool place. There’s just, you know, more than 20 people here now. Will this new tie-in send us over some tipping point, where all the growth to this point has worked out okay but this growth won’t? Of course that’s possible. But we’ll roll with it and adjust.
We’ve been doing this for about 40 months now, and I feel we’ve handled what’s been thrown at us pretty well on the whole. Now bolstered by Adam and Andrew, I’m not particularly worried that we’ll handle this, too.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
If it gets too busy, you could always go all LGT Premium on us.

I, for one, welcome our new Yahoo overlords!
You know Selig? Ombudsman.
by rolub on Feb 25, 2009 9:56 AM EST reply actions 1 recs
Overlords? No.
They’re sending us traffic. We’re classing up their pages by letting them feature a solid, established baseball blog, including Game Threads, rather than a hodge-podge amalgamation of RSS feeds of various blogs of various quality.
One of the great opportunities — and great challenges — is that people will be able to jump directly from the Yahoo! live box score page into our Game Thread (or the other team’s blog’s Game Thread). This is in contrast to other sites like Sportsline, where they’re attempting to cultivate their own Game Thread situation.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
