Hey, cool. Is this actually a “first annual”?

In a rare, wide ranging exclusive, Vice President, Baseball Operations Chris Antonetti opens up to Jay Levin on topics from the Indians free agent strategy, their impressive medical record, and even Carl Pavano.
mine is already ordered.

Hmmm, I thought Jay said doing interviews with front office staff would hurt his objectivity. Well, I’m glad he caved in.

This is great and all, but will the book include a review of tonight’s episode of ER?

tom verducci would have.
not to start a hijack, but did anyone see that one of the two changes “Mr. T” would have made was trying to save justin from the bugs. if you slow down your dvr, you can see carmona in a reflection laughing his butt off.
we all know it’s a joke. i just find it shocking he doesn’t. again, i hope this doesn’t erupt in a thread hijack. i would just rather buy 9 copies of this thing than one of that way-too-talked-about-already book.

I’ve been a lurker for maybe three seasons now.
I joined just to say thanks, Jay, from the silent majority.

All of this beige highlighter is hurting my eyes.

so it looks like three seasons of lurking equals showing up ready with reply awareness and the ability to lay off the subject line. probably was ready late last season, but with us out of contention, patience was probably the way to go.

and a nice tattoo on your neck?
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.

Funny, because I entered “Jacoby” and it actually credited my card with $12.99.

if you try “MANNY” your browser just quits.

If you try “CLIFF” the book is just okay for the first three chapters, then the next chapter is terrible, but chapter after that is really, really awesome. You could almost say it’s totally unexpected. The quality of the remaining chapters is unknown, but we’re all hoping they’re good.

We could go on. HAFNER tears the binding off the book and then some Hawaiian dude comes and kicks you in the shin.

FAUSTO makes it attract bugs and the book is completely unaffected by them.

NIXON appears not to do anything, but then you get hit in the face with a pie.

On the Blu-ray version of Frost/Nixon, you will get the little-known outtake where Frost hits Nixon in the face with a coconut custard pie.
haven’t seen it. hasn’t made it to iowa city yet, sadly.
So 2009.

I saw that this had 2 recs… and thought hah… that’s funny – people recced this because there’s nothing in it.
Then I read the comments and thought “wait, am I missing something?”
YES, dumbass, you are. Click the header, stupid.

So how stat-heavy is this? Obviously it looks like you’re using a lot of PitchFx data or something like it. Your unique prospect rankings? Who are the other writers?

oh my god huge recs. just ordered mine

There’s a Loyola basketball fan messageboard (sad, I know) where I used to do that after every home game for a season. We’d go to the LUC game and drink all day (a prerequisite to be a Loyola fan), and then I’d be out with my friends all night, one of whom was the editor of the site. The deal was, if there was an article in his in-box when he woke up the next morning, he would edit out the swears but leave everything else in and post it as was. So I had to be hammered when I wrote it. There was some great stuff in there, including about 3,000 words one time about the Thundercats.
Il faut d'abord durer.
I bet. I mean, no offense or anything, but what else do you have?
Hey, among other things, the Ramblers beat a team that the Buckeyes couldn’t handle (twice).
True, true. We did have the 1985 Sweet Sixteen team. Experts agree that if the 3 point line existed in ’85, that might have been a Final Four team. And Alfredrick Hughes, perhaps the worst #1 pick in the NBA draft history.
Being a Ramblers fan is a lot like being an Indians fan. But with no hope involved.
Il faut d'abord durer.
Kind of a silly question, but will this be available in the NY area? Kind of don’t like using my credit card online.
Sorry, it won’t be. There’s no significant market for team-specific books outside of their own home markets.
You ought to be able to get a “disposable” credit card number for one-time use.

So ordering the book now will be far more difficult, given that the MSP site was hacked and now redirects to http://www.osmanli-tr.org. Meta tag now includes keywords osmanlı tim, osmanlı torunları, hacker, hack, msn hack, hack programları, hack dersi.
They are working on it, apparently the admin was spending the day traveling in airports when it hit.
I am really embarassed about this, it’s totally unacceptable.
by Jay on Feb 9, 2009 1:02 PM EST up reply actions
I have no specific word, but it’s very unlikely that there was any compromise of the purchase data. If that’s what the hackers were after, they could have just kept the site 100% functional while skimming card info. As it is, credit card processing on the web is pretty much always set up so that the third-party transaction processor stores the credit card data while the main server itself forgets it entirely — it can’t be hacked if it was never saved.
I am following up. Jim Walsh (the CEO) is livid, as you can imagine, and I’m trying to be constructive and offer assistance.
In the meantime, I’m wondering if anyone here might be willing to do order fulfillment for LGT folks who want to order the book.

Can you be more specific about this? Do you mean serve as a temporary order taker? Or do you mean serve as a point-of-sale?
I mean, I take the orders and send you the info, MSP ships you 40 books or whatever, and you mail them out (with all costs covered of course).

We’ll see how things go with the publisher. It would be nice not to have to do this, but I appreciate knowing you guys are willing to help out.

Jim Walsh has confirmed, they don’t handle or store any credit card information. The cart checkout process is handled entirely by Bank of America merchant processing. He does not believe any credit card information was or could have been compromised.

wow, this has me worried, as i placed my order here in turkey … just before the problems began … from my home internet connection. time to investigate.
everything seems cool with my account, but i can’t help but think that there was some relationship between my order and the hack. apologies. just what turkey needed, another reason for negative perception …
been a rough spell for you guys lately, but i still – in a very weird way because i really don’t agree with their political platform – support erdogan and gul
