Going into last season the book on Francisco said he had a weak arm. The Rockies clearly didn’t update theirs.

Teams were running on him left and right to no avail early last year.

What did Clifton give up in the first?
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.

Sloppy. The time stamp is different, and you missed the italics.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

quick poll question:
my girlfriend’s car (2001 Saab station-wagon) just blew a gasket. would it be better to spend $2500-3000 to rebuild the engine? or just scrap it and start over? (note: she just bought the car used in August, so she still has quite a bit to pay off of it)
My advice is that she should get a boyfriend who can help her make better car decisions.

If he makes the team, yes
So 2009.

Was that Cliffy in the 3rd? I feel like the announcers went all inning without mentioning the pitcher’s name.
There are different types?
So 2009.

All winter long, I think, “I can’t wait ’til spring. If we can just get some spring training games.”
But they suck. Every disaster makes me freak out. Bring on the regular season.
Unless you were looking for Shoppach: Warrior Princess, or something.

According to Gameday, there’s yet to be a ball all spring. Lee managed to walk someone on all strikes.
That’s life in the post-steroid era. Pitchers just aren’t scared anymore.

If Sowers has some sort of resurgence this season, takeout/delivery Chinese might have to be the food of the year
I’m starting to get my irrationality stirred up for Zachson. I haven’t heard anything about him, which makes me think he’s doing well.

Yeah, in a huff last season, I decided I was more excited about Jackson than Reyes. But hey, that’s my story and I’m stickin to it.

Per MLB, they’ll be rolling out the new MLB.TV media player tonight:
We are pleased to announce a public BETA release of our NEW 2009 Media Player. We will be featuring today’s World Baseball Classic game between the US and Venezuela (6:30 PM ET). Some of the new features that will be available for this BETA release are true HD streaming (where available), LIVE game DVR functionality and true full-screen capability.
I want to see how the HD looks.
It was available last night for PR/Netherlands. The picture looked really nice, but it was laggy on my slow internet connection.

They’ve had it out for a couple WBC games, it’s nice. It goes up to 3B I think. And I admit I have no idea what that means. But I was able to get the highest option, and it was quite nice.
No way did Sowers get out of that inning on 4 pitches.

No, actually, unless the one I hung up on after “Don’t hang up! Important information you need to know!” was.
Get rid of your landline! What are you, over 30 years old?

This is either unintentionally humorous, or very subtle.

You know, when I was scanning the depth chart and thinking about this spring training, I accidentally forgot to consider the scenario in which ALL of our 5th starter candidates and ALL of our 7th reliever candidates would kind of suck.

The only thing I would let Pedro Martinez do for the Indians is catch bullpens without pads.

Which, coincidentally, is the only circumstance in which I would give Jason Davis a minor league deal right now.

30 clubs in 30 days was really praising DeRosa in their Cubs show yesterday on MLB Network. Disclaimer: Harold “I hate stats” Reynolds was a participant. But so was John Hart.

strange. I had a “true.” at the start of that post. Playing with the preview, anytime I have a word starting with “t” with a period, it is omitted. uppercase T, ok.
I love the column “Anointed” on page 56.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
Apparently everybody loves my tables. Which is a good thing, because I put a ton of work into them (along with Adam, Andrew and Ryan) without being paid one extra dime for them.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
The tables are nice — one little thing that bugs me though:
(I think it was Reyes) How can you have a 5th pitch if one the other four is blank?
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
Oh, I didn’t make those tables, and I have no idea what the answer to your question is. Other than the text and photos, MSP prepared the player profiles completely, based on data from InsideEdge. They also filled in the 2008 division race chart page, which was a last-minute filler, to be honest. For the other 100-odd pages, the other authors and I came up with all the content.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
I liked the race chart page.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
Well, I didn’t. But at least it’s well placed, next to Jacob’s piece on the 2009 divisional race.
My favorite comment on the 2008 race comes on page 35. The 44-28 record after July 9 is mentioned several times, but here there’s something extra. Dad mentioned to me that the Indians were 16 games over .500 over that stretch, and he felt that was significant because no team in the division actually finished 16 or more games over .500. I was kicking that around in my head, trying to decide if it was just odd worth commenting on.
I decided not to mention that specific fact, but instead to mention the real significance of that fact: “In fact, had the Indians merely won half their games before July 9, they’d have won the division.” I have not seen that observation made anywhere else.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
