I must admit that I'm addicted to reading the comments at the end of the stories about the Indians. Sometimes I get mad, sometimes I laugh, sometimes I hit myself in the head over a stupid mistake I've made...

uh oh, I know I’m going to get yelled at for not fully understanding the formatting guide, but what am I doing wrong here? I tried to fix that link by editing and making sure the correct Cleveland.com url was correct, and it was. help?

I find it easier to just use the “link” button for the quote source instead of using the formatting line that’s there, because I don’t know how that works Just write the words that you want to put for the quote source, highlight them, then click on the link button and put the URL in the box that comes up. Then it should work correctly.

I was wondering if any of you WFNY guys would ever show up here! Welcome, bring your friends.
Everybody, Scott is one of the main dudes at Waiting For Next Year, a heavily updated multi-writer blog that is one of the very best all-sports Cleveland fansites.
And by the way, I did the auto-formatting on that link …
"Waiting For Next Year":http://www.waitingfornextyear.com/
… and it worked just fine. But Buckeye Brad’s method works great, too, and that’s probably the most straightforward from a normal word-processing point of view.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Yes! WFNY is awesome. I’m a regular reader, but I rarely post comments.

I’m here pretty often, actually – just hadn’t commented.
Thanks for the kind words regarding WFNY.

I copy/pasted the URL for Brad’s first comment as an example. This is how I do it.
First, when you go to create the Fanshot, you’ll see four quotation marks inside a bracket.

The link goes there. Paste in the middle, so there are quotes on either side of it. Then, between the > and the <, write the author of the quote (or whatever you want to write).

And you should be done. Completed Fanshot (which I made to screenshot, then deleted) looks like this. Clicking on Brad’s name will take you to his comment.

Your face sucks.
So, just think about that.

Yes, but this also works:
"Buckeye Brad":http://www.letsgotribe.com/2009/3/14/797000/i-must-admit-that-i-m-addi#13060892
Note the three elements:
1. Text that you want to be linked, in quotes: “Buckeye Brad”
2. Colon (“:”) character, with no space before or after.
3. Web address, presumably copy-pasted from somewhere else.
The result: Buckeye Brad
This is the preferred method for those who like to keep their fingers on the keys. The only downside is that there’s no “open in new tab/window” option with this method, which is a shame. I personally think that should be the default behavior of all links in comments here.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I didn’t know that method, that is pretty easy. Thanks for the info. I agree that “open in new window” should be the default method. I don’t like it when I click on a link and it navigates away from the page, because then when I got back to what I was reading I lost what new messages I hadn’t read yet. Plus, I might want to refer back to the original post when reading the linked article.

That’s why I middle-click (or control click on the laptop trackpad) everything.

Wow — I never thought my 4-word comment would be so popular. Nice work, Nick.
