Fausto Day-to-Day With Bruised Right Forearm
He was hit by a line drive off the bat of Damaso Espino in an intrasquad game today. The X-rays showed nothing broken. Castro reassuringly compares this to Sabathia's bruised forearm at the end of ST in '07, which he recovered from in time to pitch on Opening Day. Let's hope this is some ado about little.
Espino's comment on the incident: "I got the one in I needed to get in...and I guarantee you he felt it."
Carmona immediately proceeded to put Espino in a headlock.

Where is Fausto with respect to innings per start right now?
Though I look right at home, I still feel like an exile

he was at 4 1/3 when he came out, presumably because of this. he was pretty nasty, too. 4 Ks, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB. Granted, intrasquad and all. But still.

Ugh.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.

I’m sorry, I always think it’s kind of funny when a pro athlete misses time for a bruised _. I mean, I know these guys need to be in absolute peak condition to perform, and I know bruises are often much worse than what they sound like.
But I mean, it’s a bruise.

I think the descriptions of sports injuries dont always give it justice. For example, “turf toe” in football sounds like a pretty wimpy reason to miss a game. But in reality, I’m sure it hurts like hell to even walk with it.
That said, I don’t get the impression that it’s too serious for Fausto and he wouldnt be out there for another 5 days anyways.
As General Manager of this team, I demand to know when I'm getting a start.

But isn’t that the cause of major injuries? Changing mechanics slightly to avoid smaller, nagging inuries?

You’d have to ask the doctors on this one – but I was injured senior year of high school playing lacrosse – and it was a bone bruise, which is like the precursor to a break, right? Bottom line: bone bruises are the real deal and take weeks to recover from.

Oh yeah, I get it. I just basically think it sounds funny.
