in fact, if we can find a way to have a guy on third with less that 2 outs every time hafner comes to the plate this year, i’m confident he will have a monster RBI output.
Barfield with a diving catch to rob Nomar and end the inning. I missed some stuff along the way and got something wrong with base runners and outs. Hey, it’s spring training.
when I was on the radio a couple of weeks back, the guy told me he thought Pavano was a key to the season. I had to keep myself from laughing…Pavano – really? But I am worried that Pavano might be a key, but not because we need his victories, but because we need to prevent his mediocre crapitude from bring us down. I know I’m real negative on the guy, but…I’m real negative on the guy.
adding…and it’s not because there is any particular reason to think Pavano will be bad. It’s just there is no reason that I know of to think he’ll be good.
Crowe got on and stole a base(s). Carrol just brought him in with a single. Carrol just nailed trying to steal second to end the inning.
aristotle really got in your head earlier this week huh
As General Manager of this team, I demand to know when I'm getting a start.
From Hamilton’s call and the sound off the bat, Hafner just missed one in his first at bat. Caught near the wall in right center. I’m just being optimistic and watching how he progresses.
SLewis still in. Strikes out Crosby. Cunningham broken bat bloop single. Pennington flies out to shallow right. Davis hits a come-backer to Lewis who throws to first for the final out.
SLewis in for another go. Cust out on a nice play by WiVal. Barfield with another diving catch in left center field for the second out. A’s saying he trapped the ball… Umps say “It’s ST. Sit down”. Buck with a ground out to second.
Barfield getting himself a job, nice work kid. Trevor, this means you’ll get to play everyday in Columbus.
Really, I can’t see them deciding to dump Dellucci at the beginning of the season (unless someone wants him). There’s no rush, why not wait? Give Crowe some more at-bats, and see what Dellucci has left. For all the crap DD takes, I would much rather have him pinch hitting in a key situation than Crowe.
especially off of Justin.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.

Indians up. I don’t know who grounds out. Carroll broken bat ball to first for second out. Canofzeros with a gritty 6 pitch walk. Hafner up. Wild pitch puts runner at second. pRONK jammed and flies out to center.

Is Hafner reaching deep counts at least? Or is he just as anxious as he was last year?

n00b question: Where do game threads usually appear?
I thought it was on the main page, then I missed one that was a fanshot, now this one is a fanpost..
Actual game threads show up on the main page as long as one of the site mods is around to post or promote it. Spring training … well, like Barfield, we shuffle them around, get their work in.

Should add, I think there’s an auto-post function for the site mods as well. That or Ryan is one extraordinarily sober and diligent dude.

OK. one more. SLewis still pitching. Gives up a single to someone. Dolittle gets a single as well. Runners 1st and 2nd. Petite showing bunt. Bunts and is thrown out at first by Lewis. Runners advance. Cunningham intentionally walked. Bases loaded. Wimberly induced into inning ended DP. SLewis a bit shakey but gets the job done!
I love how the first link above is to an article on the 2009 Denver Broncos draft preview, because of the tag “bad defense.”

that’s awesome.
soon, the tags “no quarterback” and “in-over-his-head” will also link to broncos stories.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
Jay Marshall pitching for Oakland. Victor walks; Gimenez pinch runs. Brantley sac bunt; Gimenez to 2nd. Barfield singles; Gimenez to 3rd. LaPorta, “with a terrific piece of pitching”, singles to score Gimenez; Barfield to 2nd. Tribe up 7-6. Marte strikes out. Runners advance on a wild pitch to Valdez.
Valdez puts down a nice bunt, but fielded well by the pitcher, out by a hair at first to end the inning.

So what would we think of this rotation…

Reyes
SLewis
Laffey/Sowers

no, sir… by late june, we’ll have a third proven veteran starter in our rotation.

Wouldn’t that be Pavano, and wouldn’t that be in april

SLewis stays on to work the 9th. Looping liner for a single by Davis to lead off the inning. Carson walks.
Hannahan strikes out on 1-2, without ever having swung the bat.

Well, I may as well see this one through at this point. Lewis gets a called strike out on 3 straight pitches. One out.
Umm yea. I’m thinking SLewis might be a much-harder-throwing Jamie Moyer.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
As long as you think of Pavano as a #5 (shhh.. don’t tell him in public) instead of a #3, I am okay with him.
Ben Francisco's only fan on LGT
That’s the idea. And if he’s healthy, I think Laffey is a credible #3. And if he’s not a mirage, I love SLewis as a #4.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
This, although I’m tempted to flip Lewis and Laffey.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
Fickle. Show Laffey some damned respect.
I’m lovin’ SLewis, but he’s started all of eight games — ever — above Double-A. So let’s not pretend like we really know how he’s going to hold up.
Laffey had 15 very fine Triple-A starts and 9 major league starts in 2007 alone, and he went into the 2008 All-Star break with a 129 ERA+. True, he had some problems after that, but SLewis hasn’t even been around long enough to have problems!
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Yankees send Hughes to minor league camp. The BarfieldOrMarteForHim dream lives on!
