Does this mean I have to drink like 93 more 40’s of PBR during the regular season?

So 2009.

We win the division with 92 wins, so you probably don’t have to drink 93 if you don’t want to. But shouldn’t you do it for every game, just in case?

There wasn’t any elaboration, just him saying something like “Who knows who will fill that role, if they call someone up or trade…”

by Julie on Apr 12, 2009 4:46 PM EDT up reply actions

For a replacement starter. Sounds like the TV guys made it up. They talked about it during the game.

I doubt it too, then. I could see them looking at Pedro if SLew is out for over a month.

I am still trying not to get too excited about Pronk but it is becoming very difficult.

I never learned to read.

by Brad D on Apr 13, 2009 2:56 AM EDT up reply actions

That’s exactly how I feel.

I was so not expecting three bombs in the first six games, I can’t quite even process it.

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

by Jay on Apr 13, 2009 8:46 AM EDT up reply actions

three bombs in the first six games

And he only played in 5 of those

by APV on Apr 13, 2009 8:57 AM EDT up reply actions

And the first 2 games were not impressive. Over the last three, he’s hit .333/.467/1.167 with a double, 3 HR, 3 BB. That’s 4 XBH in 12 AB.

Hafner’s off to the third-best start of his career, after 2004 (1.260 OPS, 3 HR in 5 games) and 2006 (1.642 OPS and 4 HR).

MLBN said the pitch he hit out yesterday was 96 mph

by Brick. on Apr 13, 2009 12:55 PM EDT up reply actions

so, which one do people usually use?

by Brick. on Apr 13, 2009 1:26 PM EDT up reply actions

Which what? If you mean speed, the gun’s measuring something close to the release speed. The result speed is the speed with which it crosses the plate.

by FredOx on Apr 13, 2009 1:32 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah, so when Hazel Mae says he hit a 96 MPH fastball, she’s referring to the release speed – which is the common practice?

by Brick. on Apr 13, 2009 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Can’t speak to common practice, but it was the speed the STO gun had.

Though I look right at home, I still feel like an exile

by Manhattan Tribe Fan on Apr 13, 2009 2:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Possible or likely, of course, that it’s the same gun, implying they do measure release speed.

by SeattleVinny on Apr 12, 2009 4:42 PM EDT reply actions

Honestly, who here figured it’d be Hafner Pronking and Lee/Carmona sunking at this point?

by thevicar on Apr 12, 2009 4:49 PM EDT reply actions

Well… I thought Pronk would be back, albiet slowly throughout the year. I also thought Cliffy was not going to be… the same… as last year. Carmona I’m just puzzled by. Who’dve thunk it?

I just want to believe.
