Wow. We were vacationing in DC last week and took the train up to see the Phils – Braves game on Wednesday afternoon. Turned out it was the day the Phils awarded World Series rings and we had seats 4 rows behind the Phils dugout. Harry K threw out the first pitch – looked great as he came off the field.
Always enjoyed listening to Harry do NFL games – the distinctive voice. He and John Facenda just had those pipes.
I guess you never know.
RIP Harry.
He got to call a second Phils’ title before he died. And I don’t think that’s a trite sentiment; I’m sure it had meaning for him.
Last summer, I had to drive home on I-80, and I listened to a Phillies game nearly the whole way, just to listen to Harry. I’ll miss him.
Though I look right at home, I still feel like an exile

Man, this makes me way sadder than I would’ve expected. I’ve only been in Philly for like 3 years, but he has such an iconic voice that’s just so tied to the team, it’s hard to imagine them without him.

In another bit of sad news, Mark “The Bird” Fidrych was found dead today as well.
I always enjoyed watching him when I was a wee one, even though he was a Tiger. Always seemed like a good guy to me.
