Morning Minor League Baseball

Akron plays at 10:35 am (vs. Altoona), Columbus at 11:00 am (vs. Indianapolis.

I believe Huff is starting for Columbus, and it should be Rondon for Akron.

Looks like there’s even video for the Columbus game. It doesn’t seem right that the MLB.TV premium package doesn’t include minor league games. Not sure it’s worth an additional $30.

Rondon gets two swinging Ks and a groundout in the first

by APV on Apr 15, 2009 10:50 AM EDT reply actions

I’ve never felt like a bigger bum in that I’ve just waken up and they’re already playing baseball. And yes, I live on the east coast. I contribute nothing to society.

And here you are blogging.

Aeros score 4 in their half of the first.

On a GS by Santana.

by FredOx on Apr 15, 2009 11:04 AM EDT up reply actions

After a Beau Mills bunt single. I didn’t think Beau sounded like much of a bunter.

Carlos Santana, Grand Slam. Do your thing.

Santana only hits homers when Rondon is pitching.

by FredOx on Apr 15, 2009 11:05 AM EDT up reply actions

Rondon only pitches on days Santana intends to hit a home run.

Clippers have free gameday audio, FYI.

Carlos Santana is a morning person.

Carlos Santana drinks Morning Thunder

woah…Altoona took out their pitcher in the first

by APV on Apr 15, 2009 11:06 AM EDT reply actions

Most confusing thing about listening to the Clippers: they’re playing the Indians right now.

by zempf on Apr 15, 2009 11:07 AM EDT reply actions

Strikeout, grounder, walk and a pop-up for Rondon in the second.

by FredOx on Apr 15, 2009 11:08 AM EDT reply actions

Huff gives up a triple to McCutcheon (I’m too lazy to look up how to spell it, that’s close enough).

by zempf on Apr 15, 2009 11:12 AM EDT reply actions

Gameday froze – anyone know what happened after the McCutchen triple?

by FredOx on Apr 15, 2009 11:18 AM EDT up reply actions

The radio’s really spotty, so I’m not sure either. Aubrey just got a single, that much I know. When I hear the score I’ll post it.

by zempf on Apr 15, 2009 11:25 AM EDT up reply actions

Ah, they just said it’s 1-0 Indianapolis on two hits, so I guess McCutchen got driven in by someone.

by zempf on Apr 15, 2009 11:29 AM EDT up reply actions

McCutcheon already has three triples, wow

by APV on Apr 15, 2009 11:28 AM EDT up reply actions

Head stole second, but nailed trying to steal third. Beau Mills then grounds out, so Santana to lead off the third.

by FredOx on Apr 15, 2009 11:16 AM EDT reply actions

Akron announcers more optimistic about the big club than we are – “win today and you’re three games back.”

by FredOx on Apr 15, 2009 11:22 AM EDT reply actions

Which makes me wonder, how much do the minor league announcers spend discussing the big league club.

More so in Akron and Columbus, I bet, than in say Buffalo or Norfolk. Just because of the local fan implications.

Though I look right at home, I still feel like an exile

by Manhattan Tribe Fan on Apr 15, 2009 11:30 AM EDT up reply actions

Now four strikeouts and a hit through three for Rondon. Santana apparently robbed on a CS opportunity. He can take out his anger on the baseball as he leads off the Akron third..

by FredOx on Apr 15, 2009 11:26 AM EDT reply actions

Forgot the second ended on a CS, so Mills actually leading off. Single to right-center.

by FredOx on Apr 15, 2009 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Santana DP. Frown.

Still has an 1.011 OPS. 2.000 in games started by Rondon.

by FredOx on Apr 15, 2009 11:33 AM EDT up reply actions

Aubrey scores on an RBI double by Jordan Brown, 1-1.

by zempf on Apr 15, 2009 11:29 AM EDT reply actions

Ouch. Apparently Chris Giminez got hit in the head by a backswing last night, got 5 stitches & a mild concussion.

by zempf on Apr 15, 2009 11:31 AM EDT reply actions

Clippers up 2-1 after Toregas hits a single off the pitcher’s glove to drive in Jordan Brown.

I’ve never had a sig, but I’m considering “Worried about Weglarz”

by dgcambridge on Apr 15, 2009 11:34 AM EDT reply actions

I’m a bigger Mills fan myself (I’m a sucker for heritage), but he’s the least of my worries now. He’s 21.5 y.o. & already showing good signs at Akron. And he’s big.

by jhon on Apr 15, 2009 11:56 AM EDT up reply actions

Infield single for Wilson Valdez, two on two out for Michael Brantley.

by zempf on Apr 15, 2009 11:36 AM EDT reply actions

1-2-3 fourth for Hector Rondon. 5 Ks so far. 11 in 9.2 IP for the year, to only 2 BB. ERA now 0.93.

by FredOx on Apr 15, 2009 11:37 AM EDT reply actions

Brantley lines out to CF, Clippers up 2-1.

by zempf on Apr 15, 2009 11:39 AM EDT reply actions

Triple for Altoona plates a run. Would have been two but for a baserunning blunder by 3B Angel Gonzalez. Akron up 4-1.

by FredOx on Apr 15, 2009 11:50 AM EDT reply actions

Looks like Huff pitched out of a jam, but he’s at 55 pitches through 2 IP.

by FredOx on Apr 15, 2009 11:57 AM EDT reply actions

anyone in favor of a Carmona (the good Fausto), De La Cruz, Rondon and Huff rotation say aye

Final Rondon line:

Rondon	5.2 4	1 1	1 5	0 1.59

Rundles now in for Huff to start the 6th.

by woodsmeister on Apr 15, 2009 12:58 PM EDT reply actions

Huff -

5IP. 1ER, 3K, 2BB, 97 pitches, 55 strikes

by woodsmeister on Apr 15, 2009 1:01 PM EDT reply actions

Sign me up for that, too. Plus a K, minus a BB.
