Cliff Lee’s gameday picture, if it had less teeth, could be a Cormac McCarthy character.

I’ve been using boom goes the dynomite and variations there of since I first saw that clip. It’s legend.

I’d be willing to bet that the 20-something other clubs who opened new stadiums in the last decade+ had very few curtain calls for the first home run hit there.
FIRST EVAH HOMERUN AT NEW YANKEE STADIUM DON"T YA KNOWS GIVE THE BALL BACK TO US FOR THE COOPERSTOWNZZZ
Eric Wedge. The Adam LaRoche of managers.
Question: If you had caught that ball, would you a) take some idiot Yankee fan’s money, or b) destroy it LOTR style?

They keep citing how poorly Lee has pitched today, but this is miles better than his other starts this year.

After that first inning of suck, it looked like Fausto started to get it together the last start.

So for all the complaining about Sabathia’s pitch counts, is anyone warming for the Tribe right now since Cliffy’s at 103?
Too early for pinch hitter? Gah.

Imagine if this were Marte, he wouldn’t get a step out of the dugout before Jamey Carroll would be up there.

so quick question…where should i place my utter guile and disgust…with the yankees or the red sox, i’m thinking of distributing it equally between the 2

I’m sort of ambivalent to the Tigers. I hate the White Sox most of all, but that’s almost entirely because of the unholy trifecta of Pierzynski, Ozzie and Hawk. I imagine without those three things, I would not hate the White Sox as much.
i still think our disdain should be divided between the red sox, yankees, braves, and marlins. with a major tilt towards the red sox and yankees

I understand hating the Marlins and the Braves, but I don’t have it in me to hate a team from the other league with much effort at all.
I’d say my hate is something more like:
- White Sox
- Yankees/Red Sox
- Whoever else is pissing me off lately.
I’ve been in Columbus long enough that I have no problem hating the Reds, primarily because of their fans. Living in Cincinnati for a couple years in grad schools also made it that much easier to hate the Reds.
by woodsmeister on Apr 16, 2009 3:46 PM EDT up reply actions
I lived in Dayton during college and then Cincinnati during law school, but I never minded the Reds- save the interleague series. But don’t get me started on the Bengals.
I have no qualms whatsoever with the Reds, but then again, I grew up more a Reds fan than an Indians fan.
Sometimes I wonder what it’s like to be a White Sox fan. Are they somehow endearing if they’re yours? Or do you just sit around and die of embarrassment all the time?
I’m telling you Grady sucks now
So 2009.

No I mean like, in his career. Like, he’ll always be good, but he’s never gonna take it to that next level.
