So let me get this straight. Our two mop-up men are responsible for protecting a two-run lead at Yankee Stadium. Ok. Got it.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a whole lot of shutdown guys out there. Betancourt & Perez both mopped up yesterday cause they’ve been sucking, and then Joe Smith can’t pitch to lefties.
I’m kinda hoping to see Meloan up soon.

problem is, with a 25 man roster, you can’t afford to have two mopup men. And when starters can’t go more than 5 innings consistently in a 162 game season, you need to use more relievers. This is on the (whole) rotation more than Wedge.

There will be a time to discuss this. Right now, not so much.

Maybe a wholesale changing of the bullpen? Send everyone but Wood down, bring up a bunch of minor-leaguers.

Chulk will get out of it. Indians will score a few more. The offense is on its game today.

I just found out my uncle went to high school with Madonna. Unbelievable that it took 20 years for me to find that out about him.
Wow. Im guessing this wont be the last joke of the night.

110 new comments in 15 minutes of chulk pitching?
Ben Francisco: An Outfielder only on baseball cards and roster sheets.
Sorry if it’s been covered, new to the thread, but with all of our shaky bullpen debuts, why are we just utilizing Joe Smith as a one-out guy?
Better score in the eighth, Rivera will pitch the ninth if the game’s tied, and no way the Indians want to go to extras.
Does Chulk work as slow as Raffy B?
So 2009.

its gonna be tough to win this one that crowd is going to be going nuts if it goes into the 9th tied…. I think if we take the lead here give Kerry a shot at 2 inning save

Just to be clear, that walk would have loaded the bases with our best hitter coming to the plate.
Just to be clear.
I can’t decide which hurts more: that DeRo struck out on a bunch of non-strikes no non-Yankee would get, or that they did so on a HR by Derek F’ing Jeter, and we’ll have to hear about it for the next 85 f’ing years.
Definitely Jeter. Anyone else, whatever. But that sack of overrated shit…man I can’t handle this stuff.

Serenity Now. Look at this again and take a deep breath:

by FredOx on Apr 17, 2009 4:47 PM EDT reply actions 1 recs
So, let’s turn this anger into something positive.
How do we fix the bullpen?
My four suggestions:
1) Call up Meloan for Zachson
2) Use Joe Smith for more than just righties
3) Use Chulk in higher-leverage situations
4) Use Raffy P and Raffy B in low-leverage situations until they regain skill or DFA one of them.
I’m pro #1 there, but the rest I don’t know about. Joe Smith really does suck vs. lefties. I do think at least Raffy P will come around, I’m a little less positive on Raffy B. And Chulk can be thrown into the East River for all I care.
1. I’d rather add Meloan for Chulk. Zachson isn’t good but would be the go-to mop up long inning guy/emergency starter.
2, I like Smith as situational for now.
3. Seriously? Today wasn’t high-leverage enough?
4. I don’t know how many of these we’re going to have. I think both will have to work in various situations.
Eric Wedge. The Adam LaRoche of managers.
I want Pavano to bean Jeter with the first pitch.
