This was far and away my fave from yesterday.
What we need
is to trade Wang and some prospects for Halladay

Force quit and move to trash.
I just laughed a Triscuit up my nose laughing at that. Hopefully Shapiro is on the phone trying to beat the Yankees to the punch on this.

They can’t possibly have any prospects.

I think ‘Wang and some prospects’ was this guy’s nickname for something else.
by jakesinger777 on Apr 19, 2009 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions
I actually really liked that they though they could just order Wang to the minors.

That’s confusing.
I refuse to ever root for a team that routinely does the MVP chant for opposing players.

And the only guys with truly disappointing OPSs are Crowe, Barfield, Francisco and Graffanino. That sounds about right.
This it totally impressionistic, but it seems like he’s hit the ball really hard so far, but that a lot of those have been right at fielders. I don’t know, it seems like he’s got more pop than previously, so far.

You may be right, but I don’t think there’s enough in the numbers to back you. He’s always had a nice-looking swing.

65 pitches for Pavano. I think he’s got at least 2 more in him if he keeps his head in the game.
by fleerdon on Apr 19, 2009 2:41 PM EDT up reply actions
Burnett’s gonna pitch 7 at this rate, which makes it pretty likely that they’ll suppress runs. If Pavano is able to keep that pace and protect his cushion at the same time, we’ll be in good shape.
We are, you know, winning the game, right?
by jakesinger777 on Apr 19, 2009 2:42 PM EDT up reply actions
I think they’ll give AJ up to 120 pitches though. They push their starters pretty hard. One more run would be very helpful. This could be a rare situation where I would like to see a bunt if we start the inning with a runner on, out of respect for AJ. He’s pitching very well, despite the three runs.
Not sure I understand why Shoppach is in today’s game from an offensive standpoint. The Annual tells me that he sucks against curveballs, especially from RHP. So considering Burnett is on the mound….
it seems like Wedge is matching him up with Pavano, right?
by sorrento to cooperstown on Apr 19, 2009 2:40 PM EDT up reply actions
Ben Francisco against RHP curveballs: .300
Shoppach: .040
Wouldn’t have minded Vic behind the plate, Garko at 1st and Benny in the field. But don’t mind me, I’m just well read.
